A decent field of 10 for todays main race over 10f on the turf. A couple of short priced runners and a few more also in with a shout.
DUBFLY’S WELLS (E DUBAI x SADLER’S WELLS x SEATTLE SLEW)
Yet to run in a graded race this year and only one recent stakes win. Has been running well at 12f plus and was closing fast over 13f latest. Clearly has some talent but i don’t think the drop in trip today will help. Expect a big finish but the leaders will already be gone. Top five at best.
ETERNITY(IRE) (FASLIYEV (IRE) x KRIS S. x RAINBOW QUEST)
Ran a couple of nice stakes races earlier in the year but has been ordinary at best since. Has been running at 9.5f plus and that looks too far. Is crying out for a drop to a mile and will struggle here.
NEON SWAN (FESTIVAL OF LIGHT x NUREYEV x COASTAL)
Very intersting on his last three runs, a fast closing fourth over 9f in a Grade I, and two stakes wins over 9.5f and 10f, going away at the end in both. There’s plenty more to come and although he looks to want a bit further ideally he must be a threat to wire the field here. I think he’ll win today but i’d love to see him tried over 12f.
RHODES SCHOLAR (ROYAL ACADEMY x KRIS S. x SHIRLEY HEIGHTS(GB))
Won an allowance over 10f latest but his previous two runs in graded company at the same trip suggested he wants a drop in trip to be seen at his best. Will try and take NEON SWAN on for the lead but will fade at the three quarter pole. Dropped down to a mile he could be a star.
OLLIE’S QUEST (RAINBOW QUEST x LEAR FAN x DANZIG)
Has now finished second in four of his last six runs at around todays trip. On each occassion he was closing and he looks to want further than this. Will be competative today and should make the top five but i don’t see a win.
ROIDAZOID(IRE) (THEATRICAL(IRE) x AFFIRMED x NORTHFIELDS)
This one is tough to read, on most of his runs this year he looked desparate for a drop down to 10f, which he duly got in his last start. Trouble is he bombed there,although it was a grade I. Sugests to me he’s not up to it at this level so the percentage call today is to oppose. Might sneak a top five at best.
MINESWEEPER (MINESHAFT x BOSTON HARBOR x STRAWBERRY ROAD(AUS))
Hasn’t finished closer than sixth in any recent stakes ot graded races and his only recent win came in an allowance over 9.5f. The profile suggests he’s not up to this level and he’ll srtruggle today.
ALE N’ SKITTLES (JADE HUNTER x THEATRICAL(IRE) x CAVEAT)
HAs won several stakes at trip around todays this year but hasn’t convinced at graded level- at this distance. Seems to have some natural speed and i think 9f might be his best trip. He should reach the top five no problem but the poor eforts in graded races worries me. No win today.
HR DE FOND (CHATEAU ROYAL x LE FABULEUX x NATIVE PROSPECTOR)
Only a three year old and does not yet have the experience for this. Only third ina stakes latest hwe will struggle today. Needs more experience against his own age group.
SWINGSHIFT SAL (NIGHT SHIFT x ROBERTO x FAPPIANO)
Some nice graded races this year but is another who clearly wants further. Has been closing over 11f and 12f (discounting two disapointing 12f runs) and he may want maratho distances now. Not for me today.
An intersting race with for me NEON SWAN standing out at this trip as the one to beat. OLLIE’S QUEST can keep his second place record going with ALE N’SKITTLES getting third.
