Two Races Pose For Fotos
(SP)Wyoming- Who ever said thirteen was unlucky surely did not know what they were talking about. The thirteenth feature of the day was a very exciting race and it came down to a photo finish, not for two horses not three but four. Many would say that it was just a claiming race, but a good race doesn’t matter what it tagged as, just that the horses involved do there job. If it is an entertaining race so much the better. On a humorous note, the photo finish race was won by a horses named On The Take. This is not to mean the main event was not a good race, because it too ended in a two horse photo finish. Wise One had a horrible start out of the gates and had a lot of ground to make up. This he did in a steady ground burning run until it was just him and Likes It Firm competing for all the marbles. It was well contested and ended with no certain winner. It came down to a twenty minute delay before it was official and Wise One was declared the winner. Pulling in over a length behind the leaders for a show was the horse Lightfly‘s Desert.
Staying on the turf once again this weekend will bring the seven furlong King Puppet Memorial. It is a $55,000 race for sophomore fillies, in which five have shown up. It should be a great day for racing with the weatherman calling for dry clear conditions. So lets take a look at our competing ladies.
Ball Or Strike(IRE) entered by holdorfold. This Irish lass comes in with six strong runs out of seven. The front runner has already notched a stakes win last year , but is still looking for that elusive one this. There has been a question of stamina this season and that may be the reason she is in a slightly shorter race this time out. She will have a solid rider in the irons in Giovanni De, but his nock is he has no flair. This could be disadvantage.
Hollow Hawk(GB) entered by reminder. This British lady comes in looking for that first stakes win of her career. The closer has been running strongly all season and been putting up respectable numbers if not the results she wants. She drops down to a regular stakes this time out and a shorter piece of turf in hopes of finally getting the win. The wily old veteran Vince Gannon will be in the irons to her advantage.
Gone To The Well entered by super23. This dark bay filly comes in off a two win streak and is tagged the early favorite. It will be the first stakes attempt of the season for the stalker and she is looking to prove this is where she belongs. She has pulled Mike Blade, who is really struggling this year. Could have a negative effect on her chances.
Denver Doll entered by denveru. This chestnut filly comes into the race being bred just over the border in neighboring Colorado. She has been running strong all season but has had a demanding schedule and that may start to tell on her. She has been on the turf all season but still no wins. She has the fiery John Dawg in the irons.
Tabasco Explosion entered by tobascocat. The last little filly is this light brown co-favorite of the day. She has been running strong most of the season except her last outing in a graded stakes. She drops back to a regular stakes in an effort to return to her winning ways. She likes to run with the leaders and will probably do so on Saturday. She has drawn top jockey Jesse Sands in the irons.
