The Taylor From Effect Special Stakes

Welcome to Upstate New York this week for the last weekend of racing in May.  The weather is supposed to be more seasonable with temps approaching 80 degrees.  Our feature race this week will be The Taylor From Effect Special Stakes which will have seven 3 year old colt’s running 7 and a half furlong’s on a fast dirt track in search of the winner’s share of the $65,000 purse being offered.  The morning line favorite will break from the inside post Gran Hope at 2/1.

1)  GRAN HOPE   2/1     12    5/1/1    $230,800

The favorite in todays race breaks from the inside post.  After two tries with graded company without a finish on the board, the son of Stong Hope tries non-graded company to try to get back on track.  Trainer lbgong has done well in the past in sprints with this one, winning 3 of 5 lifetime, with 4 of 5 on the board.  Gran Hope has almost double the earnings of anybody in the race and the 4 weeks rest suggest’s he is well rested and should give a good effort.  Z. Ayya get’s the call today and looks like a nice combo.

2)   DITCH FILLER    9/1     12     3/4/1     115,795

Gave way badly when trying Graded company last time out going longer.  Tried a turf sprint before that outing which he didn’t seem to care much for.  As a 2yo took awhile to break his maiden though he was right there in most of his races.  To be a factor in this one the son of Woodman will have to step in up a bit.  His sprint record of 6 of 8 in the money looks decent , but most of those came while trying to break that maiden.  Trainer tnilsson has selected T.Kallor for the riding duty’s today.

3)   NORTHERN PIRATE    3/1     6    4/1/1     $50,477

Enter’s first Stakes race off a three race win streak.  This 3yo son of Belong To Me has yet to run a bad race in his short 6 race career.  Trainer jockeymax knows how to find the winners circle and this guy looks real nice the way he mows them down in the stretch.  Looks well placed to keep that streak alive although there are two or three that are going to make sure that he brings his best effort.  F.Nog get’s a leg up today to see if he can make it four in a row.

4)   BRUJO   3/1    6    2/2/1     $83,605

Another who makes just the seventh career start.  This son of Awesome Again has tried stakes company 3 other times and has been in the money two of those attempts.  Looms as one of the main threats today and has never been worse than second under a mile in four try’s.  Trainer paulson brings this colt in off a nice score in an allowance at today’s distance and selected one of the top jockey’s in C.Orza to try and get the job done in what should be a great race.

5)   FRISBEE HEGONE   6/1    13   3/1/1    $93,518

This son of Congaree has not had the sucsess that he enjoyed in his 2yo season.  In his 2yo season he won his first Stakes at first asking.  He has raced in Stakes and has not hit the board since.  His Sp for trainer fishy three back was good enough to be a concern for some of these, but that race was a bit shorter and he was giving away ground late.  This field seems tough enough where it could be more of the same. F.Solomon will get the riding assignment today.

6)   SECRET CODE   10/1     14    2/0/2     $49,198

This son of Tapit comes after being collared by his new connections of lonrho for $75,000 two races back.  He tried an allowance off the claim and showed little before winning a four horse starter in his last.  The Sp was decent, though I am not sure how well it would hold up here.  It appears with thease he will end up being an also ran.  A.Tilbury will get the mount today.

7)   AHBIT TUQUIK   8/1     16    5/0/2     $118,776

Breaking from the outside post this two time Stakes winning son of Uncle Abbie has one of the Stakes wins at Today’s distance.  He is going to need to bump his Sp’s a bit as some of the others in here seem to be running a little quicker lately.  He has the most experience in the field going postward for the 17th time for trainer cjwilson.  B.Cooper will get the ride today.

After going over the form for a long time I really like the 3 horse who steps in to stakes for the first time and will box the tri as follows.   1/3/4

Good Luck to everyones Runners this week, it should be a great race…….
