Five In Seven Out
Seven and one-half furlongs Firm Turf $75,000 All horses 4 years old and up A group of five will line up for the SEVEN OUT Challenge at Louisiana Downs on Saturday. A review of the past performance indicate that the pace should be moderate with most of the runners better suited for a bid during the last one-half track. Now, a review of the a SEVEN OUT Challenge: PP1 MOELARRYCURLY G Owner- Ngng Jockey- i Szott Odds 5/1
Forty Niner x Forestry
A several tries on both dirt and turf courses, it appears that this four year has finally found his niche. He turned in an impressive performance at this distance the last time out. This win came after trying to stretch out to longer distances in several previous attempts. I would expect him to lay a couple lengths back off the early pace.
PP2 | CHATEAU ROCKER | Owner- | Chateau2 | Jockey- | B Moore | Odds | 6/5 |
Rock Slide x A.P. Indy
He ships in from Mass., after a third place run in the California Ham Handicap. That performance was the third straight solid run- after being brought back to grass. His current streak is impressive enough to make him the morning line favorite. One area of concern is that he is a late runner, and like in the California Ham Handicap and he came up a bit short in his rally from deep in the pack. The pace of this race may play a big factor in this favorite’s chances.
PP3 | NINE UNDER | Owner- | Megaman2 | Jockey- | F Oxon | Odds | 9/5 |
Pulpit x Forty Niner
This four years old has gone to the strategy of going out early and grabbing the lead. In his last outing (The Their Scale Memorial), he was three up at the top of the stretch, and finished strongly to capture that event by more than a length. The extra furlong may be an added challenge to this four years old.
PP4 | GOMAN | Owner- | Mitch20 | Jockey- | C Schroeder | Odds | 4/1 |
Grand Slam x Honor Grades
A veteran of fifty one races, this five years old showed some signs of returning to form with a nice fourth place finish in his last trip. He is a very versatile runner with wins on both turn and dirt surfaces; at both sprint and route distances. He is another of the “late runners” in this amall field.
PP5 | MEDIVAL CAT | Owner- | Hoofers | Jockey- | U Cunnigham | Odds | 8/1 |
Royal Cat x Fortunate Prospect
He may elect to go with NINE UNDER and contest for the early positioning at the front of the pack. His last effort of pressing for the early lead led to a tiring performance, but in this small field, if he elects to sit back until the stretch, then NINE UNDER may steal the show from the front.
CHATEU ROCKER should rally to overcome a sizable lead by NINE UNDER in the stretch. Due to no early challenge, NINE UNDERA will have enough in his tank to hang on for a second place finish. MOELARRYCURLY G will apply enough early pressure to keep NINE UNDER honest. He will continue to show signs of improving by holding on for a third place finish.
