The Her Rules Memorial Stakes
This weeks feature race is for 3yo Fillies which will be run at 7 and a half furlongs on a firm turf course. The Her Rules Memorial Stakes carries a $70,000 purse and six horses will take to the track on the same day the Middle Jewel will be Contested south of here. The short priced favorite Elfin Magic will break from post two at 3/2 in todays feature. Let’s take a look at all of todays starters.
1) BRABAROSSA (AUS) 4/1 13 4/2/2 $ 141,970
A Stakes winner of two of three at this distance. Her only loss at this distance was on an off track. She rates the main threat to the top choice. The daughter of Testa Rossa’s Sp’s are a little behind the favorite but if she makes any mistakes this one should be around to pick up the pieces. The past Stakes experience with Stakes company helps and the inside post doesn’t hurt. Trainer brabant has tabbed C.Orza for the ride today which also helps the cause. This horse offers a lot of value at 4-1 today. Do not overlook.
2) ELFIN MAGIC 3/2 14 4/3/1 $ 167,954
Today’s Morning line favorite breaks from the two post and makes only her fourth lifetime start on the turf. Interesting race last time out when she won her first Stakes on the turf in gate to wire fashion. She usually likes to come from off the pace, but had to make her own pace and was much the best when winning easily. This race there should be a little more early foot in it so she should have the option of taking back versus going to the front. It seems trainer hot2trot has a whole new horse in this Sky Mesa Filly since the change to the turf three back and she has yet to run a bad race on this surface. The price may be a bit short, but hard not to like until given a reason. Z.Ayya Will get the ride today.
3) AFLEET ANGELINA 5/1 8 3/1/1 $ 109,996
Takes the step up to Stakes company after a very nice allowance score last out. This Storm Cat Filly has really improved her last two outings and rates a serious chance on the step up in class if she can run back to her last race. Trainer waremblem5 has this one fresh witth four weeks rest for her Stakes debut and this looks to be a good spot to test the waters. Any improvement over last race will make this horse a contender. T.Kallor gets the assignment today and hopes he can get a little bit of that late run out of her.
4) DYNARIDGE (IRE) 6/1 7 1/2/1 $ 55,475
The daughter of Indian Ridge comes in off her lone Stakes try. That effort a third going 10 furlong’s beaten 5 length’s. Here she cuts it back and changes surfaces, where she has only run one time a well beaten MSW try as a 2yo. This is a pretty tough group for a horse that could be running against NW2L. Seems like the longshot in todays field has a lot to do. Trainer trackplays will give jockey B.Pitts a leg up today.
5) COZY ZIG 5/1 12 3/4/0 $77,798
This daughter of Cozzene started her career on a promising enough note. After a quick switch to turf, she quickly placed in her first two starts on the grass before tailing off towards the end of the year. She did win her last start as a 2yo and her last two starts her Sp’s have jumped up a bit. Trainer singleall must have thought it was time to take another shot at Stakes and this looks like as good as place as any to see if the improvement can continue. Jockey P.Nation gets the call today to see if he can keep this filly headed in the right direction.
6) CANOWINDRA 7/2 15 4/3/1 $ 77,285
Comes in here off nice allowance win over this strip. The Sp was as good as most of these have posted and trainer laponac has entered this daughter of Unbridled’s Song in a Stakes for just the second time in her career. She seems to like the track and the morning line give her the repect she deserves at 7/2. If she can run back to her last she should do very well and this distance seems to fit even better than the last race. C.Short gets the mount today.
