In The Spirit Game Victress

Ldstables’ In The Spirit pulled off the mild upset to take home first place money in The Flurry.  The light gray Devil’s Bag filly dueled Dracula II into the ground and had enough energy left over to stave off a furious late bid by favored Storied Past.

The winner was right on Dracula II’s flank from the get go.  The latter set serious splits of :22.1 and :45.2 before succumbing to In The Spirit’s constant pressure.  The winner opened up a daylight lead in mid-stretch but was all out to hold Storied Past safe by a long neck in the final time of 1:22.3 for the seven furlongs.

Strolling For Gold rallied belatedly for show honors while pacesetting Dracula II finished fourth.  Second favorite Crabby Patties failed to fire and finished a well beaten seventh.

The victory, In The Spirit’s fourth in five 2006 starts, pushed her career earnings to $236,755.  B Coleman was the winning rider.
