Moneygrowsontrees Demolishes Hot Field in Texas

When the pre-post favorite wins nobody should be surprised, but when that winner looks such a good thing in hindsight, the dividend payout of $15.10 makes us all wonder why we didn’t load up our bets. The fact is that before the race, Moneygrowsontrees was one of fourteen chances in a star-studded field, but after the event, it would appear that no matter how many times the race were to be re-run, the result would be the same, at least from the winner’s perspective. Such was the authority with which he stormed to the most convincing of victories.

Perhaps unexpectedly, Big Poppa Pump and Indian Cat T flew the gates and contested the early lead. Fly’s Motivator out wide moved forward early while Red Vise kicked up on the inside to gain the rail. The remainder of the field jostled for position with no more than two lengths separating fifth and fourteenth, once they had settled. With such a tightly bunched field early, it appeared that a frantic scramble for home was inevitable, but one combination was determined to spoil the spectacle. Eventual winner, Moneygrowsontrees had dropped out rearwards in the early shuffle, but, like the rest of the field, had refused to surrender more than six lengths to the early leaders. Approaching the half way mark and the race began to take shape. Big Poppa Pump was wearing down Indian Cat T, while Fly’s Motivator was not starting to look good. Back in the Field, Senior Year had saved ground on the rail and was making his move, while just ahead of him, Moneygrowsontrees was lengthening stride impressively. Once the field straightened for the run home it quickly became a one horse race. Moneygrowsontrees, let have his head by C. Shoemaker, put paid to the opposition in a few strides, and ran home the easiest of winners by a comfortable two lengths.

Fly’s Motivator ran an honest race. After being involved in the early charge, he held on gamely to retain second placing.

Senior Year ran on well in the stretch to finish third, a further length astern.

Beau’s Pegasus, passed half the field in the run home, finishing fourth.

Lemonade Stand ran an even race and collected the minor check

Big Poppa Pump used up too much gas early, beaten four lengths.

Astronomical Unit and Kisaran both raced mid-field throughout.

Indian Cat T weakened badly after contesting the early lead.

Melek Ha Cavode led the group of hopeful swoopers early, but failed to swoop late.

Versus, Nighthawk Quest and Asheron’s Call were never in the race

Moneygrowsontrees is a three year old son of Forestry / Miss Carby (Mr. Prospector / I Am the Game) raced by cheadle. This was his fifth win from 11 starts and elevates his earnings to above $350,000. Moneygrowsontrees ran the 7 furlongs in 1.22.2 and returned a speed rating of 103. Ranked # 12 in his class before the race, this victory elevates him into the top ten at # 8

cheadle is one of the newer stables in the desperado empire, with an impressive win rate of 24 victories from a total stable representation of only 104 runners. A well balanced stable, Moneygrowsontrees is the headline act, while well bred, claimed five year old mares Strike the Stars and Carpe Noctem are both six figure earners. Unraced two year olds Texasonmymind and Whiskey Wishes represent the untapped future.
