Brahms Avenger captures Don’t Miss Out Handicap

Brahms Avenger got exactly the balance she was looking for, and dominated down the stretch to grab a victory in this week’s Don’t Miss Out Handicap. This was her second stakes win in her past three starts, and she posted a career high 93.0 speed figure. This win moves her up to a rank of 63 among female turf sprinters. It also puts her over the 100K mark in earnings, taking her to $118271 for her career. The upset here generated some nice returns on the betting front. Brahms Avenger paid $12.20 $5.50 $2.10 across the board. The upset generated some passable exotic payoffs, as well, paying $26.90 for the exacta and $87.50 for the trifecta.

Inflection(GB) grabbed the early lead in this one, and while Poison Pines pressured early, she couldn’t find that extra speed she needed to define the pace in this one. By the half, Inflection(GB) had open up nearly two lengths, and continued to increase that lead right into the stretch. The closers started their move at the half, but couldn’t pick up much ground over the next quarter. They really turned up the heat in the stretch, though, cutting quickly into the leader’s cushion. Brahms Avenger looked like she kicked in the turbo boosters, really ramping it up down the stretch, passing the leader and cruising home to a length and three quarter victory. Inflection(GB) hang on to second place. Eternal Spark showing a calm, slow but sure type of close took third place three and three quarters out at the wire.
