Summary

An excellent training performance by Jdoggyx who claimed Ankaline on the final day of last season for, what looks a steal now, 13.5k. Unbeaten in 4 for his new owner, he made this a successful Stakes debut in a race that was always going to be run to suit. Showing he could go well at this track last time out, he was bound to have a soft lead and be the biggest danger to the odds on favourite. Tiring in the final furlong he kept on stoutly to repel the fast finishing closers and, if well placed by his owner, he could find a few more of these small field Stakes.

King Of Kilmore was given the sole job of tracking the winner but, even though he closed a great deal in the final furlong, he could`nt be considered an unlucky loser. His 94sp is lower than his usual rating and this small field and tentative pace counted against him. Still relatively unexposed and with a stamina-laden pedigree, he has more Stakes wins in him possibly with more ground.

After a 2 month absence Capote Protector, coming from way off the pace, ran a cracker and was unlucky not to finish 2nd. Stripping fitter, he`ll be one to note next time out.
