Ten fillies to dispute the Grade III Warfare Farm Stakes

It should be a warm and nice afternoon in Texas and the feature for this weekend is the Grade III Warfare Farm Stakes. The race is for fillies and mares, 3 year olds and up going a distance of six furlongs over the fast main track.

  1. Details (12-5-2-1) – This is a filly which is clearly on the improvement trend. With each new race, the SFs have been going way up. She should be part of the early flight, and although the rail post is somewhat of a disadvantage, she is in her best form and must be considered.
  2. Storied Past (6-4-1-1) – Lightly raced three year old filly who switched to the main course on her last race and the experiment was more than successful, scoring in a listed stakes races. She needs a hot pace up front for her late push to be effective. At 7-1, is worth taking a look.
  3. Black Strike (11-5-4-0) – Talented filly out of Smart Strike who should be in a stalking position from the start and her chances depend on how nice a trip she gets and that she gets a nice duel up front. Good chance.
  4. Queen’s Robe (7-3-0-0) – So far, her best races have come in Allowance Company and in races longer than this one. She is lightly raced, so improvement is not totally out of the question, but for now I’ll pass.
  5. Germanic Blueprint (16-4-2-2) – Winner of a listed stakes race in her last showing, but so far she has run only in the grass. Is a question mark whether she can handle the main track, and furthermore, she needs to step up in her SFs in order to have a chance here.
  6. Mail Order Bride (11–7-0-1) – Winning machine out of Gone West, and she has already conquered six listed stakes. Her problem has been when stepping up to the graded ranks, where she has failed consistently. Her opposition is not that high caliber, so she may graduate finally here in graded company.
  7. Daisy Ransom (12-3-2-0) – She won a minor stakes race at 5.5 furlongs, but up to now she has not show she belongs in this group. Will need to improve big time to have a chance in here.
  8. Regal Cat (11-6-1-1) – After winning three listed stakes in a row, her attempt to repeat in graded company was forgettable. She returns now to her group, and may be the “speed of the speed” for this event. Very dangerous!
  9. Eurojet (9-3-3-1) – Royally bred filly who has the best SFs of this group of fillies and mares. The post is perfect for her staking style, gets the nice four week freshener and is my top pick in the race.
  10. Lucky’s Brook Lynn (13-5-3-2) – This is a Grade I winner, the only one in this group. However, this was a restricted event, and so far she has been much better in races over a mile. She can not be discarded completely though.

The picks: Eurojet, Regal Cat, Mail Order Bride.
