Cheyenne Gold a Perfect Sprinter After Pebbles Flintstone

Cheyenne Gold faced a field full of early speed sorts in Saturday’s Grade II Pebbles Flintstone, and she treated the challenge the same way she treated all of her sprint races: by simply outrunning them all.

The Ozioziozi trained daughter of Seeking the Gold ran her sprinting record to a perfect five wins in five tries.  She also won the Grade III Cadoka stakes last time and faced three others from that same race.   With her second straight graded win, Cheyenne Gold moves up to be ranked the number 12 sprinting three year old filly.

The filly with the world class kick, Smokin Lois, came much closer this time to catching the winner than she did in the Cadoka. The Molwr trained filly maintained her number two ranking with a rallying second against the speed favoring Nebraska surface.  She stills owns a perfect in-the-money record in her ten lifetime sprints.

Finishing the trifecta was the longest odds filly in the race: Silver Strav.  Her trainer, Emb2, had used her prior two races as experiments to find if the Stravinsky daughter liked routes or turf.  It seems she doesn’t.  Back on dirt and sprinting, she gave a nice rallying account for herself.

Most of the race, as expected, was a battle on the front end with the winner challenged by Upsetter and Incredible Peg.  The latter two faded to respectable fourth and fifth respectively as Cheyenne Gold prevailed.
