NINE TATER Handicap

Brundle Hollandia ran the perfect race today in the Nine Tater Handicap Stakes over 6 ½ furlongs.  Dropping out to the rear on the jump the jockey in C Wyatt asked for a response coming into the final straight and did she respond!!!  Pouring on the speed for the final 200m dash, she flew past the field including Irish Prayer (IRE).  Well run and nicely timed at the finish there.

Irish Prayer was unlucky really after sitting in 2nd place for much of the race she hit the lead coming into the straight and looked like she was going to bring it home.  She certainly looked to have been checked on the turn while going past Decision (AUS) as she faltered slightly however she picked it back up again straightaway.  Still crossed the line in 2nd place though which was a good result in the end.

For the rest of the field it was a fairly close run thing.  Well You Know took out third place after running a good race midfield early on.  Didn’t have the speed in the straight though to push on but held on for third no worries there.  Orchestral and came in next after never really threatening for the win.  It was the type of run that looked like a warmup rather than really pushing for it.   Dolly Soks (IRE) who was not jolly at the end of the race was up in third but that was as good as it got for Dolly who said my golly as she came into the final straight.  Decision (AUS) after valiantly trying to outrun the field early on couldn’t go on with it in the final stages and slipped back to last place as she tired visibly in the straight.

Good race all round though with the stronger contenders taking it out and I hope we all enjoyed those showbags.  I certainly got mine.
