Smackdown(IRE) wrestles a victory from the jaws of defeat

This filly stake race was a another installment of which is best front end
speed or a freight training closing mentality. I have always favored speed
when betting on the pony i figured if you are in the front half of the battle
is already won, but looking at this race you had to know that a closer would win
it and closers took the top 3 spots and a stalking BONITA who briefly had the lead
after a perfect stalking trip could not go on against the three trains coming at her:
SMACKDOWN(IRE),OTTO ELUSIVE and GONE SKIING. Surprised to see GONE SKIING go back to that closing style that i think suits her better. Well anyway on to the recap.

GLACKIANO, the favorite jumped out as expected, but what wasn’t expected was for her
to be by herself and she established a solo lead early into the first furlong but it
would take a toll on her later.GREEK RANSOM broke second and looked comfortable stalking and even made a move at the leader halfway into the race but the chasing had took its toll on this filly as she was passed by BONITA who for a moment looked like she had stalked her way to a big win but she was through after the big move and was asking to be passed in the
stretch. And there were several suitors all with a chance to walk away with the win,
GONE SKIING was first to challenge and take over the lead and he looked solid repelling
the closing train also known as OTTO ELUSIVE . this horse got within a neck of GONE SKIING
but no closer GONE SKIING seemed to find another gear and looked to be home free but here comes
another challenge in the form of SMACKDOWN(IRE). Already softened up by the challenge of OTTO ELUSIVE,GONE SKIING could not hold off SMACKDOWN(IRE) in the final furlong as SMACKDOWN(IRE) rolls home to a 1/2 length win!!! My pick CAPE PHYLLIS closed as was expected but she was too far back to make a legitmaterun at the leaders. also with a nice closing run was ZOOK SPUR who closed to sixth but looked to be
outclassed but gave it a quality run nonetheless. Congrats to the winner SMACKDOWN(IRE) he was truly deserving to close like that on this lightning quick speed favoring turf course.
