THE ABDUL EN LA FUTURE STAKES

Welcome to Upstate New York for this weeks Feature which will have five three year old Colts running a mile on the Turf in the ABDUL EN LA FUTURE STAKES.  Although the field is lacking in size, there is a lot of excitement in the air as SPARE T (IRE) comes in fresh off a graded score and clashes with MICHELANGELO (IRE) for the third time in their young careers.  There are also three other hopefull starter’s who enter today so let’s take a look at the field on what looks to be a fine spring day in the Finger Lakes.

1)  SILVERWELLS    9/2     11  4/0/3

Breaking from the inside post is this 3yo son of Silver Ghost.  He comes in here off his first stakes placing, that a third in a small field going longer.  Before trying Stakes company two races back trainer stevesutto had put together 4 wins in 5 starts.  The post will help put this one in the right position to be in contention but the Horses he faces today are a bit better than he has been running against.  Jockey Da.Gellner gets the call today.

2)  HUDDIE  7/1    6  1/2/1

The longshot in the field breaks from post two with just a MSW victory to show comming in.  The son of Deputy Warlock has shown a lot of early foot in each of his six career races including his lone Stakes start.  Trainer huddie70 will be hoping Jockey F.Nog can save a little something for the later stages. A tall order indeed.

3)  BARB’S DOUBLE ALLIE    7/2    10  4/3/1

This is the big question mark in the race.  Comes in off a pretty dismal effort, but has done that before and come right back and run a monster.  Does jakematt have the Distorted Humor Colt ready to do it again? Can’t argue with 8 for 10 lifetime in the money. A Stakes winner who is getting respect on the board.  I believe the odd’s makers have this one well placed and he does rate a chance, but would have to step up to beat the the favorite. My favorite under achiever B.Cooper gets the nod to add more mystery.

4)  SPARE T (IRE)    1/1    9  4/3/1

super28 comes into the race fresh off a victory in the Chantily Lace G3 for this son of Theatrical (IRE).  That was his first graded score to date and likely not his last as he ran a very nice race in the 20 horse field EQUINIC NICK DITTMAM finishing a game third beaten just over a length in a third place showing.  His 9 lifetime starts have yielded over $400,000.  His main threat today would seem to be the horse he has already faced twice in his short career and has beaten on both occassions.  He just really seems to be getting much better with each start and has been been bouncing up the 3yo classic turf rank, all the way to 14.  The Capable Z.Ayya was lucky enough to negotiate this mount and should do it justice.

5)  MICHELANGELO (IRE)   3/1    9  2/4/0

Hooks up with the favorite for the third time.  Is the third time the charm? Trainer given2 is hoping so.  The main threat here is the only other starter to have graded experience and just missed by a head in the MANOFJUNK Stakes G2 as a 2 yo. Will pounce if the favorite faulters and has a crafty jockey in C.Orza.  This one deserves to be second choice, however, he will make sure the favorite will to some running.

Small field, very good race.  I am sure at least a few people are excited to see it happen. My picks will be 4/5/3  Good Luck Everyone!!   Luck for Re-cap Late weekend.
