This race has a little bit of the battle of the sexes going on. EMPIRE REEF a four year old filly who ran a 113SF in the Breeder’s Bowl Distaff finishing 3rd. Has run two races since then and ran third last out in a stakes race for fillies, First time for her to take on the boys.
SQUALL IS A STORM is a mare and has ran against the boys once before but would rather forget that performance a 7th place finish. She is improving and should improve of the last race. Now, lets meet the rest of the field of boys.
LOOSE CARSON who is an old timer 6 yr horse, ran a 108 last time out.
SENSATIONALIZE looked to bounce in his last effort 100SF and ran a 110SF in prior. Might be one to look to if he can get back to that form.
STORMZAPPER has been running in Graded race last three with two fourths and an eighth last out and has ran three straight 100+ SF’s might bounce after that or could be sitting on a big effort.
SEATTLE DELTA ran a 105 SF two back but that was on the good going and should be down graded until catches an off track.
ACT OF BRAVE has run a great SF before but should be sitting on a big performance of about 105 or so atleast.
ONE BOLD RUSH might bounce here if following his recent SF pattern.
GOD’S GIFT ran three great races and bounced in that last race and should get back to his usual 100+ SF’s.
DESERT REGENT must hated the heat in NM last out with a poor poor 83SF in an Alw race off a layoff. Ran a nice 112 the race before that. 2nd time with his new trainer and needed his last race.
PALESKIN won last race a alw race, with a 98SF and might improve and has ran a 107SF five back.
CYCLE LIKE BAYLEY looks to be in over his head again but has speed to burn and will force the pace early.
CRAFTY VICTORY should be a contender based on the back to back 106SF and might repeat that. He is a closer and should be around late.
INDYCITY T just ran a 104SF and wired a field in an alw race winning by 2 lengths on the wire shold move up but I don’t think he will get the easy lead that he enjoyed in the last race.
So will a Filly win or will the boys dominate this race. Here are my picks, I will take EMPIRE REEF to win and I think that she should get the trip she likes close to front or just off the lead if she can get an easy lead look to go wire to wire in here. CRAFTY VICTORY is my pick for second closer should be able to close on this field. DESERT REGENT would of been top pick if not for the long layoff and short rest back would of liked a bigger price. So My picks are 6-11-8
