The LESSA Bonanza Stakes

A field of six promising 2yo fillies will head to the post in the $90000 LESSA Bonanza Stakes on Saturday at Kentucky Racetrack.  The 10th race feature will be run at a distance of six furlongs over the Turf Course.  The Stakes undercard features rematch of the Grade III winner of the Fast Lane Stakes, NOB HILL, against SKIP THE CAT, a daughter of legendary sim mare QUEEN’S CATS.

Breaking from the rail making her 3rd consecutive Stakes appearance is canismajor’s BIG TIME STAR.  The 2yo filly by Aldebaran – Chicago F(IRE)(Theatrical) finished ITM in her previous two Stakes tries, and takers it up a notch as she tries to take advantage of the rail and take this field from gate to wire.  She is going to meet some resistance on the front end, and I’m not sure her speed on the turf is enough to get the job done against these.  This is however a nice filly and I would not be surprised if there is a Stakes victory in the near future for her, but I think it will come over the dirt…

Fresh off a Grade III victory in the Fast Lane Stakes is novanora’s NOB HILL.  The 2yo daughter of Miesque’s Son – Frisco Project(With Approval) drew away from an impressive field of Stakes winners in her Grade III triumph in her first start over the green.  Dam was a winner of eleven races over the turf with earnings in excess of $280, so it was no surprise when connections switched surfaces after a disappointing finish in the SONG STARRING Handicap…one to beat

Looking for her 1st Stakes victory in her 3rd Stakes appearance is knightess’s CORAL HIPSTER.  The 2yo Came Home filly from a Dixieland Band mare has been impressive if four turf appearances finishing no worse than 2nd including a pair of Stakes.  This filly is fast, and should be able to clear this field in the early going.  She has faltered in her previous attempts, but with no presence of a real closer in this field she just might be able to hang on if NOB HILL fails to make a bid…one to catch

Making her 2nd Stakes appearance is goldnday’s CHATEAU RHYTHM.  The 2yo progeny of Greatness finished 3rd in the POD BOBBIE Bonanza last time out paying quick dividends for her new connections after a questionable drop in class by her previous connections into a $5k claimer. Despite the good claim and recent stakes placing, this filly appears overmatched in this field…look elsewhere

Looking to turn the tables on NOB HILL for her 2nd Stakes victory is slewsback’s SKIP THE CAT.  This 2yo Skip Away filly is the third foal, and only Stakes winner, from the legendary sim mare QUEEN’S CATS, winner of 33 lifetime races and earnings just short of $4 million dollars.  Winner of the THREE MERCY Special two races back, connections rated her in the recent Grade III Fast Lane Stakes where she ran evenly down the lane to finish up 4th three lengths behind NOB HILL.  With a promise of a fast early pace, SKIP THE CAT should benefit that outing passing horses in the stretch…dangerous

Breaking from the outside in her 1st Stakes appearance is sjmeola2’s GHOSTINTHEJUNGLE.  The 2yo Hold That Tiger offspring from a Silver Ghost mare has shown a marked improvement since switching to the lawn breaking her maiden LTO after finishing 2nd in her first turf try.  Hails from clever outfit, but this filly will be hard pressed to compete with these in her first attempt against winners…pass
