Knightmare’s Breeding Corner

Dansili (GB) (12882)

A son of Danehill makes his way into the Breeding Corner this week and I have to say I am disappointed in my fellow sim players. Here is a son of Danehill a very, very popular sire and Dansili (GB) is barely used in the sim. Well that is very likely to change this year as a fellow sim breeder made an excellent suggestion in getting this guy covered. This is a sire on the rise and probably holds some untapped potential.

Real Life- Dansili (GB) is by Danehill. His dam sire is Kahyasi and his dam’s dam sire is Hight Line (GB). Dansili’s dam also produced Banks Hill, Heat Haze and Intercontinental. Her fifth foal is Cacique who is currently being trained by Bobby Frankel. That is incredible production. Dansili (GB) has a low dosage index of 1.48 but he was a miler as was many of the other good offspring his dam produced.

He was quite a race horse. He may not have had as many victories as you have liked to have scene from a top notch runner, five wins in fourteen starts, but he kept excellent company. It is hard to hold it against him that he finished second to Giant’s Causeway, and Indian Lodge as well as third place finishes to Dubai Millennium and War Chant.

His first two crops are on the track and he is off to a solid start with ten stakes winners. Six of those came from his second crop and he seems to be primed for another good year with his third crop hitting the track this year. Rainbow Quest has been the dam sire of two of his stakes winners creating an inbreeding to Blushing Groom 3X5. If it is not Blushing Groom inbreeding it is Northern Dancer inbreeding, Nijinsky or Roberto inbreeding.

Sim Life – Only nineteen sim runners. Nine of those nineteen are unraced or have less than five career races. No stakes winners yet but five allowance winners. That is half his runners with five or more races. He is one of the first young European sires covered here in the Breeding Corner that actually produces turf runners. He has a few that run solid on the dirt but his better speed figures and multiple allowance winners have done it on the turf.

His two allowance winners sort of follow along the same lines as his real life stakes winners. One is inbred to Blushing Groom and the other is inbred to Northern Dancer. For the most part he has been bred with modest to cheap dam sires but his two year olds are bred to some really nice sires like Kris S. (Roberto inbreeding), Sadler’s Wells, Seattle Slew (Nijinsky the dds so Nijinsky inbreeding) and Northern Dancer.

Breeding Suggestions – Well looks like sim players are following along the same lines as the real life breeders when using Dansili (GB). The Northern Dancer inbreeding seems pretty natural since Northern Dancer appears in the fourth generation of Dansili’s offspring. I like all those particular inbreedings and would also suggest that inbreeding to Ribot is not a bad idea either.

I like the Northern Dancer and Blushing Groom inbreeding better than the Roberto and Nijinsky inbreeding although both seem to work and will have a good opportunity to work as in the upcoming year. I would prefer to use grandsons of Blushing Groom getting a 4X5 inbreeding. There are several solid candidates as dam sires there like Quest for Fame (Nijinsky in the pedigree as well), Peaks and Valleys, Swain, as well as Housebuster.

I like many grandsons of Northern Dancer as dam sire and there are many good ones. Storm Cat, Deputy Minister, Stravinsky (Blushing Groom in the pedigree), Summer Squall, El Prado, Theatrical. Using sons of Nijinsky get you that Nijinsky inbreeding as well like Royal Academy, Green Dancer or Sword Dance.

The Mr. Propsector and Seattle Slew lines should blend with Dansili pretty well even other Raise a Native line sires like Affirmed or Majestic Light would make good dam sires. Native Dancer line sires like Sharpen Up and Sea-Bird would seem good choices as well. Damascus and other Turn-To line sires seem to fit well here as well as other Nasrullah line sires like Mill Reef and Never Bend.

You have to watch who you are breeding to Dansili. I think it will be very easy to end up getting sprinters using him if you are not adding a little stamina somewhere.

Dansili (GB) (12882) X Storm Cat (6275) X Key to the Mint (3293)

Dansili (GB) (12882) X Quest for Fame (5055) X Night Shift (4342)

Dansili (GB) (12882) X Septieme Ciel (5711) X Sea-Bird (5646)

Bargain Bred – Dansili can get fairly cheap at the end of the week. He currently gets to the mid fifties by the end of the week. There are a few cheaper dam sires that match up well in a bargain bred.

Dansili (GB) (12882) X Blushing Flame (668) X Slewpy (5965)

What to Expect – Dansili had only one race at two. His two year olds in real life so far have been solid but the runners have been doing better as they mature. He has some speed so his runners should be solid early in their careers and probably carry that through their three year old years. He is going to produce all sorts of runners. To this point his sim runners are doing better on the turf than the dirt although his dirt runners are solid to this point. I think getting a 12f horse with him might be reach but he should produce good milers if all goes well.

As always if you have any questions, comments, or sire requests please drop me a line at mcbwildcat@aol.com. Be sure to reference the Breeding Corner. Good luck and good breeding!
