Will They Hit Mach II?

Today’s feature at North Florida was named for crusader’s talented 5-time stakes winner on turf, Mach II.  The daughter of Machiavellian x Nijinsky II x Lyphard was versatile as to distance, winning stakes from 6 furlongs to 1 3/16 miles.  She has two winners to date from her 3 current foals.

1. Sunshine Hollandia (14) 7-2-1 $247,603, Aljabr x Dynaformer x Kingmambo, races for thegallery, and has the services of top jock H. McCoy.  The filly finished her 3 year old season with two straight stakes wins, though her two starts in 2006 haven’t been up to that standard.  Unraced at 2, she had a strong season at 3 last year, with a Grade III among her 4 stakes wins.  She likes this kind of distance.  5/1

2. No More Options (GB), by Diesis (GB) x Old Man’s Money, by Cozzene x Gone West, (20) 7-3-1 $402,489, is ranked #19 Long on Turf, the top ranking of today’s starters.  The light grey 4-year-old owned by goldsmith has started off the year strong, with a win and a second in her two 2006 starts.  In fact, her last out was a win in the Spring Toe Challenge Stakes at 13 furlongs on turf in DC.  The first foal of a former claimer, she took a Grade II stakes last year.  Rider G. Gogan, a solid journeyman, has been in a serious slump this year, and is hoping this filly will turn the tide.  4/1

3. Mongoose Jedi, (19) 8-4-0 $356,140, A.P. Indy x Theatrical (IRE) x Valid Appeal.  Photo41st’s 4-year-old had a banner year at 3, winning 7 stakes on turf.  This year she’s off to a good start, with a pair of seconds in 1 5/16 mile turf stakes.  She’ll be piloted by 20-year veteran K. Braun.  3/1

4. Larceny, by Lear Fan x Ela-Mana-Mou (IRE) x Troy (IRE), (13) 4-2-1 $109,175, will run for owner/trainer super12, under the guidance of young but talented O.A. Haack.  This 4-year-old is a stakes placed allowance winner, but based on speed figures should have a valid chance against this competition.  6/1

5. Exclamation, (25) 6-6-1 $160,562, by Kingmambo x Exhilarate, by A.P. Indy x Alysheba.  Owner/trainer serpent claimed this 5-year-old mare from breeder autumnwind, and she’s hit the board in 7 of 8 starts since the claim, including two stakes wins, one of them this year.  She’s the only foal of stakes-placed shemale Exhilarate.  Her fourth in her last out was her worst finish since changing stables; she’ll be ridden by solid veteran H. Short.  5/1

6. She’s The One II, by Danehill x Mr. Prospector x Caro (IRE), (24) 7-7-4 $432,853 will run for gipper4.  The 5-year-old chestnut has been running consistently higher speed figures than the rest of the field lately, but has far less experience at the longer distances.  She’s won one stakes race every year from age 2 through age 4, and added a Grade I stakes-placing last year.  She’s won on dirt and turf.  J.D. Smith will take the reins.  8/5
