Night’s Desire makes it three in a row In the Coney Bandit CB Memorial

Night’s Desire extended his winning streak to three, with an impressive length and a half victory in this week’s Coney Bandit CB Memorial. He found himself right where he wanted to be at the half in this one, and held off all comers in the second have to claim a trip to the winner’s circle. This win gives him seven in fifteen starts and he is doing some of the very best racing of his career. His second consecutive stakes victory moves him up to rank 120 among older turf sprinters, and he has a lot of racing ahead of him yet. It takes his career earnings past the $130K mark.

Aninjurytoall and Black Labeled provided the early speed in this one, quickly opening a length on the field, while fighting to claim that lead for their own. Black Labeled finally managed to open up a clear lead in the second half, but the early speed duel set up the stalkers perfectly in this one, and Night’s Desire and Red Sharpie were closing hard on this short lead down the stretch. Black Labeled made a game effort, holding his lead well into the stretch, but the early speed duel took too much out of him, and Night’s Desire, with a powerful surge flashed by to grab a length and a half victory at the wire, with Red Sharpie on his tail. Black Labeled held on for third place, two and three quarters out at the finish.
