The crowd will definitely be abuzz as we start to get to the longer of the three year old Equinics races. Like myself, it will be hard to pull themselves away from the pasta and vino but we are expecting quite a horse race. The weatherman’s threat of rain for the race may well give trainers a headache if the wine doesn’t. There are some incredible fillies here including a Breeders Bowl winner. Theatrical is a filly that is still trying to figure out how to finish. She is by far the best in this race at second and third place finishes but has only led at the wire one time. It’s her first time at this distance but it may do her good. Her last race was a beauty only to finish second once again. She would certainly be hard to count out of the top three with her record and trainer Epcotlen feels that this would be a good time to find the way to the winners circle. This pretty little roan filly has improved every time she has hit the track and is getting up in that rarified air where if that trend continues she will be hitting triple digit Speed Figures soon. It remains to be seen whether she wants to stretch out or stay with the long sprints but this race should be a good character builder and help in that decision. One of over 100 Medaglia d’Oro offspring, I keep wondering if they will be late bloomers like their Daddy was. Angela could help determine that. Another impressive young filly that always seems to be around at the finish but can’t quite get her nose across the line first. Very nice times and lots of leads but she seems to be looking over her shoulder down the stretch. Zeco1 is talking about blinkers for his Top 100 filly and that may do the trick. Benelux residency is excited about this filly’s prospects and with good reason. A nice little filly that seems to be better suited for the mile race than the extra distance. With Benefactress there, the Kentucky Horsemen residency needed to share the wealth that they have on turf. So Check Into Cash will have to cinch up the saddle a bit tighter and run the extra furlong. Trainer Burn1Downs has a record that shows an ability to get his horses ready so it all may work out in the end. His filly stumbled out of the gate last outing in the Panhandle Oaks stakes and never recovered. This New Zealand bred from Down Under Racing has the potential to surprise some folks here. She loves the distance and has the ability. Before her last start she had won four in a row, two at 9F and had thrown in an 87 SPF to boot. Those are the kind of numbers that can contend in this race. She doesn’t have any stakes experience at this distance but is a stakes vet and knows what it is all about. I wouldn’t be totally surprised to see JockeyMax5 running toward the winners circle at the end. This beautiful grey filly is rated in the top 100 and with good reason. She has been incredibly consistent and has won her last two races coming into the Equinics. The Vermont gang has high hopes for this girl and the biggest worry is that with an inside post and her fondness for moving back at the start, she may get bounced around and blocked out during the race. Lightly raced filly with some juicy breeding that finally ran a super race last time out. She grabbed the lead and went wire-to-wire in a 14 horse field at 8 ½ furlongs. She seemed to like the distance and trainer Topicount2 liked the win. She may be ready to break out and really do some damage in her young career and this is as good a place as any. This good looking chestnut filly is anything but a random choice. She is Irelands hopes for a win on the grass which is certainly near and dear to the hearts of her residency. Owner Wish4Win will certainly be doing that here and will pin his hopes on a young lady that has shown steady improvement in her five races. This Irish bred gorgeous grey filly is the pride of the GR Simsters in this race. She is lightly raced but has done everything asked of her by trainer Lender3, winning her last three coming in. Last outing was the GR Simsters Thoroughbred Trials where she breezed to an easy win at 9 furlongs. One of only 23 runners for her German Bred daddy, there may be more in a hurry if the Alpine Turf Club can route this brown filly to victory. She has her work cut out for her but that is why they run the races instead of just figuring out who should win on paper. Here comes a filly that comes from a very successful momma. She has brothers and sisters that have all won races and a pedigree that would make anyone sit up and take notice. She seems to be a bit of a late bloomer and might do even better as a three and four year old. Her past couple of races showed nice SPFs coupled with strong finishes. Since she has stayed on the turf, she is in the money five of six times. HolyBull99 has this one training well and on target. What can you say about last years Breeders Bowl winner and probably second to Super Gold in horse of the year voting? The favorite in this race is the 4th ranked horse overall and the only worry is a near miss second to Sunshaft in this years Panhandle Oaks and her disappointing finish in the DelPenn before that. Palmisland has a handle on this filly and knows what makes her tick. Labreche is up in the stirrups and quite capable of bringing this amazing animal home in the front of the pack. Viking Racing is sending this lovely Irish bred filly to the line and she most likely will be fighting for the lead right out of the gate. It will only be her fourth race and she hasn’t finished below second place yet. She has been steady and competitive so far and is bumping up the distance just a bit. Sabbath2 has an admirable win percentage and knows how to get the most out of a young horse. Another top 50 filly that keeps getting better. This young lady was bred for the turf and hasn’t disappointed. Her daddy Galileo would certainly be proud of her three wins in only seven tries. She likes to hang just off the pace and close at the top of the stretch. That probably gives trainer Super14 grey hairs but she has done it well. DelPenn has a stable full and to be chosen for this race has to be an honor. Lightly raced young lady who is probably praying for rain after dominating in the slop last time out. She has shown promise but hasn’t reached the heights just yet. This would certainly be a great time to strut her stuff and I’m sure the folks from EAAA racing will be standing along the rail in the stretch yelling her name. First time at this distance and in a stakes race so hopefully she will be able to overcome the changes. Trainer BigTed10 would like to do his own version of the Forest Dance in the winners circle. Lucky number 13 in the rankings is this big strong filly. Seven times either first or second in nine races, she certainly knows how finish. As a matter of fact, if she has one drawback it may be that she likes to sit near the back for too long. Trainer MrBigB and the Queensland res have a real prize on their hands here and love to watch her run. She had a bad stumble in the DelPenn race two back but otherwise has really looked good lately. She looked outstanding in winning the Panhandle Oaks in her last outing, beating out Jaca, Cosmo Girl and four other horses in the race in the process. .She should certainly be in the mix at the end. Here is a filly that I’ve been keeping my eye on for awhile. I even picked her to be this years leading candidate for three year old filly of the year before she finished third in the Panhandle Oaks to Jaca and Sunshaft. That is certainly nothing to be ashamed of but she was the favorite and just didn’t have it at the end. That broke a four race win streak and I know that Cosmo Girl and TheOC2 would like to start another streak here. She’s the Morning Line favorite and with good reason. Harzheim likes this filly and has been trying to get in the saddle for several races. Now is his chance. Here is an Austrailian bred that has won half of her four races. Epsom Downs Residency is hoping to get her above .500. She ran 9F for the first time her last outing and the stretch didn’t exactly seem to her liking. It will be interesting to see if she can bounce back under EuroAlien’s tutelage. She starts way outside, likes the back and has never tried the mud. Just watching this roan filly work out this week makes me remember how much I miss watching the late actor John Candy. I know that trainer Wally456, the Minnesota residency and this fine filly would like to leave a lasting legacy for him by winning this race. She wants be on or near the lead at the first turn and it just depends on how much she has left after that with the enery expended from the outside post. She may have been saving her best acting work for this race.

There are some tremendous young fillies here but three tend to stick out a bit. I think that NORTHERN VOYAGE(NZ) could surprise and use her off track experience to get into the top five. ANGELA has the right post and running style for this track and will be in the mix. I’m choosing SUNSHAFT to burn up the stretch at the end but finish just a bit short in third place. COSMO GIRL will be tiring after starting so far outside but have enough left to gather second. On a hunch, I think that JACA will pull a replay of her Breeders Bowl win and use her off track experience to pull away for the victory. This could be the most fun since mud wrestling!
