Q. How do you get a full and talented field of race horses
when the Equinics is on ?
A. Simply show them 500,000 big ones and a Grade 1 trophy.

We got privateers from everywhere and it’s going to be one
hell of a race. It’s 6/1 the field and anything could happen.
If you blink wrong you’ll be running 2nd or worse here.

And here’s the field in order:

(1) DROP THE BOMB (GB) 9/1

Good run in the 8.5f ‘The JUDGE WAD Stakes two starts back,
small queries over whether it will get the distance, and fitness
after a fair lay-off. Improving type has pace and not without hope
here.

(2) SWIFT DRIFT 9/1

Has been racing well at the Classic distance; 2nd last start
in Grade 1 company, but hasn’t race over the long trip yet.
Sadler’s Wells breeding suggests it will get the distance and has
a good jockey in J. Wesselman aboard and he may be able
to coax the extra distance out of him.

(3) DANDIOR 10/1

Okay run when 2nd two starts back in the The WRETCHED WORD Challenge Stakes. Has been running on/closing in its races but
will need to fire up here to get into the prize-money.
Only a rough chance.

(4) SKILLS IN MAGIC 6/1

Impressive runaway win over the distance in the BERT.B
Special Stakes last time out. Great jockey onboard in R. Williams.
Highly talented horse, who will go very close to winning this.

(5) ABEL GIZNAD TED 16/1

Form okay over the Classic distance, running 2nd last start in the
CRYPTOANT Stakes. But hard to recommend over the long
going on 12 ¼ lengths 3rd in The HER QUESTS (GB) Special Stakes.
Prefer Others.

(6) SKY HERO 8/1

Has been patiently trained up to get the extra distance moving from 7f Sprints to 8f Classics. Has been running on/closing in its races but this is its
greatest test to date. May not have the sustained pace to stay with the top chances here. Rough Chance.

(7) COMISKEY 12/1

Impressive winning finish in The AUTUMN’S ROO (GB) Stakes
over the distance, marks this as a horse to watch.
The 12/1 odds offered here are very generous. Good jockey
in M. Van Dam.
Good each-way chance.

(8) MICHELANGELO (IRE) 9/1

Zippy little run in The BLOW BROOK Memorial Stakes over 8f
last start shows the horse can generate pace. By Galileo (Ire)
and should get the extra distance.
Close 2nd three starts back in The Manofjunk Satkes G2
over 8.5f and in The BROTHER VACUUM Stakes.
Not the worst here, and not without chance.

(9) EARLY RISER 8/1

Good win two starts back in The PHARMOON PIE Bonaza Stakes
over 8.5f. Had a tough hit out last-time against Equinics representative
Creepshow (Ire) in the 9f JAPAN RACING ASSOCIATION Grade 1.
One of the main chances.

(10) WIGDAN 11/1

Useful 4th in the TOTAL CHOICE Memorial Stakes,
three starts back, over 8.5f in which the finish line came up
too early. Inbred to Nearctic so should be okay with the distance.
But will have to get a hurry-on to finish in the money here.

(11) WICKED STYLE (IRE) 40/1

Has done too much sprinting in preparation lead up to this.
Has Generous (Ire) as sire suggesting it could manage to get
the distance. Prefer in easier race for first start over the routes.
Prefer Others

(12) CONFIDENCE RETURNS 12/1

Like its name I think it’s confidence has returned.
Has been steadily improving in allowance company and
moves up to Stakes racing here.
Chance of placing if gives its best and gets the right run.

(13) CLEMSTONE (IRE) 9/1

Smoking run last start in JAPAN RACING ASSOCIATION – Grade 1
over 9f when only 2 lengths 2nd to the incredibly talented Creepshow (Ire).
Lightly raced but real chance here on last start effort.
The one to beat.

(14) LEX LUTHOR 10/1

Improving type who really shined last time out over the distance with
win in The GR Simsters Thoroughbred Trials.
Could be the surprise packet here. Has ability and should
finish somewhere in the money.

CONCLUSION
The Selections.

Clemstone (Ire) should win if it can produce the same kind of form as
last start when he was ..well .. heaps good..
He can’t afford to have a day off here.
otherwise Skills In Magic and Lex Luthor will gobble him up.
