A Bonanza For The Ladies
(SP)Wyoming-On a cold rainy day the G. Sea Special was run and a competitive field contested to a strong finish. In the flying mud and cold hazy mist the racers came around the final turn in a close assembled group. It was at this point that all but one front runner faded and two closers came splashing to the fore. In the end it was the strong closing attack by Intergalactic, where he was able to get a head in front of the tiring Tale Of Auror for a win. The aptly named Mountain Flood was able to use his closing style to secure a show, keeping his off track racing well rounded.
This weekend the ladies will get to strut their stuff for the $60,000 purse in the Sandessa Bonanza. It will be a six and a half furlong race on the turf course. Seven classy ladies have entered to run on Saturday so why don’t we get an introduction to them.
Royal Highness entered by seeyalater. This chestnut sophomore has been on the boar in all sic of her races. She is a stalker that has been slowly improving with each race. She placed in a stakes race last time out, but will need to step up to a higher class if she want to continue to compete at this level. A years maturity brings in more and tougher opponents.
Cat‘s Tale entered by luminous. This front running filly comes in looking for her first stakes win. She has shown flashes of talent and a slight preference to the grass. Whether she likes the short sprints is another question and could be a late blooming classic runner. This will be a good test for her as she is up against stronger competition this time out.
Wreath Of Roses entered by twoofus. This sophomore filly started off here career with a stakes win. Since then she has only managed a show without any improvement of form. She has aged a year and is primed to take the next step up and will need it to make her stalking style effective.
Awesome Point entered by ladyracer. This pace setting sophomore enters the race off an impressive win at stakes level. She already has a win in Wyoming so her familiarity should help. She has shown a fondness for the grass but could be in a race that may be a little too short for her. All indications point to a developing classic runner.
Middle Road entered by horsechic7. It is either feast or famine with this chestnut filly. She seems to run strong one race and then not even care the next race. When she decides to run, she breaks first from the gate and then makes the others runner chase her down. She already had her strong run, can she string two together?
Grand World(IRE) entered by eriann2. This Irish lass makes her debut run on the grass Saturday. She was showing marked improvement at the end of last season and opened this season with a credible run, but that was all pounding clods. How she performs on the grass is anybody’s guess. It will be a tough challenge for only her second stakes run.
Anthony Minichello entered by soumillion. This filly enters the race coming off two wins in a row. After her last run the trainer feels she is ready to step up in class. Her best times have been at this distance, but both runs have been on off tracks. Can a she still produce the same results and speed on firm sod. That is a question that can be answered Saturday.
