Perfect Trip for Blarney’s Gift in New York.
The TIMELESS RULE Cap Stakes
A mile and three eighths on Fast Dirt
$70,000
All Horses, 4 years old and up
BLARNEY’S GIFT ran nearly a perfect race in the TIMELESS RULE Cap Stakes at Saratoga today. The Mile and three eights race for four year olds and up was run on a fast dirt track and the speeds showed that with half the field finishing with SPFs over the century mark.
BLARNEY’S GIFT was the second favorite on most cards but you couldn’t tell that he knew that. He waited behind IN THE THEATRE who had jumped out to an early lead until he had the perfect shot at breezing by. Jockey Nabbinger looked like a magician with the reins as he moved the beautiful four year old grey colt to nearly a perfect trip. He ran his best Speed Figure to date with a 105 and finished strong, looking like he was ready to run another couple of furlongs. He has now started the year off right with a first and a second and really nice speed figures.
IN THE THEATRE jumped out to a nice lead from the gate and finished in second comfortably ahead of YOKO BONE O who finished third. PHYL THE SEEKER who was the favorite at post time ran a disappointing race finishing fifth in the six horse field which is his second such race in a row and will leave his trainer scratching his head.
BLARNEY’S GIFT’s trainer SSutton has a much happier job, figuring out where to send the winning horse to continue his winning ways in this young 2006 season.
Best of luck to all of these fine horses.
