6 Fillies to fight it out
As we head to Eastern Kentucky, chicken will not be on the menu, but rather a small field of fillies running to gain a bit of respect and set up their careers as 3 year olds.
JOE’S LOOP – Was looking to be just an average filly last year before producing a hattrick of wins including one stakes, taking the spotlight off Shapelle Corby. 7 furlongs looked her absolute limit as a 2 year old at the sim world will be waiting anxiously to see if that will repeat as a 3 year old.
DAYFLY’S KID – The equal favourite has been bastardised with the jockey selection. She is a gun filly and will be looking to push her earnings over $100000 here. She will need to establish a more consistent racing style as a 3 year old but has the makings of a champion.
LIFTING SHADOWS – corza6 looks to have his filly outclassed here and there’s a slight query why lifting shadows hasn’t ran on turf again after a first up win. Allowance looks to be more her class but this field does not look too threatening.
BATTLE TESTED – It is hard to go past this filly after 1 win from 1 race which was in a stakes. The increase in distance will only benefit her and she is my pick of the race. Her excellent breeding and smart trainer sprinter will be looking to give this field a bit of class.
STORMOVERSEATTLE G – I would like to say that this filly has a bit of a chance but I would be lying. Stakes is not her class just yet and while she is likely to be good enough to win one in the future, she should be carefully nurtured through her younger years against peers of her quality.
STEPPIN’ UP – The equal favourite will be relishing the lower quality field here than in her previous races. Like her name suggests she will be steppin’ up to bigger and better things this year. Her main query would be her sire pikepass which sounds more like an action for the Kama Sutra participant but may not have much bearing here.
