Odds-on Biter Hollandia brushes off challengers
Colorado– Easy money for multiple graded stakes-placed Biter Hollandia (3/5) this week. The French Deputy sophomore filly should wire the $65,000 Brushed Off Memorial. The 8.5 fulong main track test only attracted three other sophomore starlets — and they’ll all probably chase the favorite home.
Barrstable’s Biter Hollandia attracts top Colorado jock Mikey ‘Dubya’ Wallace and take it to the bank that the genius rider will send his filly straight to the front. Biter Hollandia finished 2nd in her ’05 bow, the DPCD Mother Story Stakes(G1) over Saturday’s distance. The gal ran her career best 95 SP# to only lose by two heartbreaking lengths. She was often on the graded board throughout her freshman season. Absolute shoe-in to notch her very first black type winner’s circle.
Recent MSW winner Rude Laugher (5/2) might make a show of it. The AP Indy royal bred actually competed in 4 stakes races last year before dropping back in class to break her maiden. The closer was pretty good too — placing in the Buckeye Juvenile(G3) versus colts. Talented and bred for distance. Would like to see turf again over a firm course at a mile or more. A lot of upside, but unfortunately must close on a probable lonesome pacesetter.
Skippie sends out Sky Mesa filly Sienna Skye (5/1). Beautifully bred filly took 3 starts to break her maiden over dirt and she placed over a mile in owner-restricted company. Coughed it up when facing open company later. Have to try grass soon. Closer should shadow Rude Laugher. Sienna Skye hasn’t shown the SP#s though to be much of a threat to Saturday’s favorite.
Finally, epcotlen tosses in the maiden Tricky Pulpit (3/1). Pulpit daughter ran an honest 3rd in MSW debut over 7f. Decent 83 SP# too. Good race-spotting and we’ll just have to see how she handles main track and the graded performer. Outside shot at pulling off the upset. Should stalk pacesetter.
Snowchief’s Picks:
Win: Biter Hollandia
Place: Rude Laugher
Show: Tricky Pulpit
Good luck to all.
