Sloppy Dirt $55,000
Fillies and Mares, 3 years old
For most three years old, the step up from sprint to over a mile in distance is a test that must be taken. Add to the equation the influence of “sloppy conditions”, and the results is even harder to predict. Some of this field has tested wet courses, and some have tested distances greater than a mile, but the combination creates a scene that no one can easily predict the outcome.
PP1 | Polish Not Gone | Owner- meguire | Jockey-T O’Conner | Odds -6/1 |
Polish Precedent x Gone West
One for one on wet conditions, and should be expected to rally from the rear in this event. The uncertainty of how others will respond to the mud may enhance her chances in this event. Being a late runner, if she can ignore the flying mud, the distance may serve her well.
PP2 | Stone Cold Birdie |

Birdstone x Louis Quatorze
Winner of the Grade Stamping Stakes, the distance and racing conditions will be something new for this runner. He will probably rely on a stretch rally to pull into contention, so the pace and how she handles the surface will play an important part.
PP3 | Wondergirl Elf | Owner-zeco1 | Jockey-K Naber | Odds-9/2 |
Debuted on a sloppy track, but he did not put in a stellar performance. She was edged in her last outing near the wire, but I am expecting her to be coming from a bit more back this time out.
PP4 | A.P. Sadler | Owner-lostcode | Jockey- D Esperado | Odds 4/5 |
Sadler’s Wells x A.P. Indy
Last outing resulted in a graded stakes victory at this distance. She has responded well in two trips over tracks rated “good”, so ownership is hopeful that she can handle a very wet course. She has proven successful coming off the pace and on the lead, so D Esperado will have a couple of options to choose from during this trip.
PP5 | Old Rosa(IRE) | Owner-labreche | Jockey-N Stalker | Odds-4/1 |
Generous x Forty Niner
In the money in each of her five career trips, but untested on a wet surface. She ran strong in her stakes win five weeks back, and should try to duplicate that front running performance here. Again, the surface may play a factor in her showing.
