Grade III…Triage Distaff
The Grade III Triage Distaff has drawn 7 hopeful contenders who’ll vie for a piece of the $125K purse offering. The race is for fillies and mares 3 and up and has drawn a diverse field who”ll rumble over 14f of firm turf here at the Nordic track. Lordpye’s Rebel Yell N is the early line favorite, but she’ll have her hooves full with competative ladies who hope to close out the year with a victory. The Grade III event has induced several contestants to cross the pond from “The States”. It will be interesting to see how they’ll fare as their trainers recover from Christmas frolic and pre-New Years cheer.
At 2/1 the favorite, Lordpye’s Rebel Yell N. The 5yr old War Chant gal has earned over $600K in her career and is ranked #29 in her class of turf runners. This gal is graded stakes tested and she showed her grit with a place finish at 12f in a recent GR.II. She’s a closer, has 3 wins in ’05 and seems to be returning to the triple digit form she displayed earlier in the year. Her connections have her hooked up with a solid rider in D. Shirley.
Second choice from dochobo stables, tabbed at 3/1, is the handsome mare Black Tie Dancer(IRE). The 5yr old, a Black Tie Affair(IRE) prodegy is no stranger to this distance. She’s earned a 3/4 in the money record at 14f with 2 photos in recent stakes competition. She brings the fields best time at 3:01 3/5 and like to rate just off the front runners. Her recent 4/5 itm form, with 2 photos, indicates that she’s “on form” and will contend here. BTD has attracted the services of top jockey H. Knott and hopes to break into the graded ranks of winners on her 4th try. Go Baby..daddy loves you!!!!!!!!!
Third choice, breaking from PP#7 and tabbed at 9/2 is sabbath3 stables highly acclaimed Tete High Moon(IRE). The 3yr old is the prodegy of sire Moon Balad(IRE) and the Champion mare High Cozzene. High Cozzene, as you may recall, was a prolific Graded Stakes competator. She’s earned numerous photos and acclaim at the highest levels of the sport. Her 3yr old daughter is ranked #42 in her class and has earned 6 victories in ’05. She’s graded stakes tested and will try her luck at 14f for the first time here. Pro jockey H. Conway will rate her mid-pack and save her late kick for the lane.
At 5/1, breaking from PP#6 will be globalsim stables 4yr old Alozo mare Aztec Torpedo. Shipping in from “The States”, AT brings a perfect itm record of 16/16 for turf running. 10 of those efforts produced 1st place checks and a 6/6 itm stakes record says that this gal is for real. She can handle the distance and her versatile running style will give exceptional jockey R. Gibson the choice of rating her back from the leaders or staying up close so they may hear the fury of her hooves. This lady was claimed for $13.5K a while back and has done nothing but move up and fill the coffers for globalsim ever since. Something tells me that she will influence the outcome of this affair.
At 6/1 odds, the 6yr old Cozzene babe Allegedly Irish will represent breednsell satbles. Her turn’o foot is questionable here as she has not shown the speed lately that will be required to best some in this field. A 14f turf triumph in her last was clocked at 3:04 3/5 seconds. J. Ruckriegel, an accomplished jockey, will be in the irons.
Another tabbed at 6/1 is fab19 stables Getaloadofthis. I like the name and the 11/12 itm turf record. That record comes with 4 wins in ’05 and a recent 14f stakes victory. She was clocked at 3:03 1/5 seconds in that one while she produced a mid 90’s speed figure. The 3yr old Distorted Humor filly has fresh legs a recent 5/5 itm (5-2-2-1) record and get’s the services of veteran jockey R. Steiner. Here’s another “pond jumper” that won’t know when to quit.
The longshot, at 10/1 is another sabbath trained filly. This gal,Tete Marea(IRE) is from his sabbath4 stables and is sired by one of The Doc’s! favorite sires Sligo Bay(IRE). This will be her first test at the distance, but her 3 victories this year tells me that she has the heart for the game. She’s drawn a solid rider in T. Werner.
