The Thunder Gleaming Stakes
The Thunder Gleaming Stakes rounds out the year for the midlevel stakes 3 and up crowd. With a full gate for the 10f main track open affair, this race is top heavy with front end speed and accomplishments. With only one ligitimate closer and a lone three year old to challenge his pace setting seniors, the race sets up as all one could hope for in a year ending finally. A purse of $70 grand is enhancement for bravado, the track is rated as fast, so “Let’s Roll”.
The favorite at 5/1, is the top money earner for the rouk stables and the 6yr old son of Secret Odds. Avacodo Bill is the fields closer. He’s capable of upper high 90’s speed and has 10 lifetime wins, with 3 of them this year. His very best running has been at 9-9.5f, however he took a place finish at 10f in his last and has Graded Stakes credintials. Apprentice jockey L. Lee is up.
The first of 3 entries tabbed at 6/1 comes from the manni165 barn. Dave’s Risen Star is a 4yr old Danehill prodegy. His dam is the Graded Stakes contender Babe’s Sheep. DRS sports an 11/18 lifetime record to wear down his opponents he likes to run up close to the pace. He has earned 7 lifetime wins with 3 comming this past year. He’s consistant with upper 90’s speed but has failed to get a photo at this distance. An exceptional jockey, R. Case get’s the mount.
coffee stables 5yr old Sensations is the second 6/1 entry. The son of Conquistador Cielo is hot hot hot. He’s reeled off 8 wins in a row, all this year, and comes up to this race boasting a 10/14 lifetime record. This guy can fly, he’s produced numerous triple digit speed figures, some reaching as high as 110. He’s a Graded Stakes winner with over $1 million in purse earnings. Top jockey J. Benisz is in the irons and will have him positioned just off the pace. These two could be a deadly pair.
The third 6/1 runner is Saddler’s Thorns from the comotion barn. The 4yr old is capable of triple digit speed and brings a 17/20 lifetime record to this affair. He’s experienced at the distance as three of his last 5 races were 10f romps, where he won two. Times for those races were in the 2:02 second area. With pro jockey M. Squilteri guiding the Sadler’s Wells colt anything is possible. He’s another one who does his best running on or close to the front end.
At 7/1 we have a 6yr old Seeking The Gold offspring Seeking The Brave. The burnin stables crew have their charge set to run here. He tuned up with a 10f $56K allowance in his last outing which produced a 2:02 2/5 time. He’s had graded stakes competition and is capable of producing some awesome speed numbers when he tries his best. Jockey Z. Dundee will run him up close.
The only 3yr old in the race, the prodegy of Graded Stakes winner and millionaire Broad Manila is Little Feat. The Event Of The Year colt runs glfstrmdoc stables and is tabbed at 8/1. A stakes winner at 9f the 3yr old is capable of 100’s speed. He rates back off the pace and get’s the services of jockey D. Wueful.
opindra stables entry Slew ‘OTrouble is tabbed at 9/1. The 5yr old A.P. Indy runner has several photos at the distance, one two races back. This fellow has plenty of route experience and can produce triple digit speed figures when he’s on. Pro jockey Q. Oliver get’s the call.
Exotic Woody from the redturkey2 stables is the first double digit odds entry. He’s tabbed at 15/1. The 4yr old Woodman colt has had his photo taken 6 times in 2005. He’s a steady producer who’s best work has come from the allowance ranks. He’s a pace setter and could be the rabbit in this one. Jockey C Whyte is up.
At 16/1 from PP#10 is glbstables Sunday Silence entry Run Right Passem. The 5yr old has lost a step to age since his brilliant 4yr old campaign. He’s another pace setter who’s been turning out 2:03 and change times and upper 90’s speed figures. Hardluck rider S. Bollinger will have to get his best if he’s gonna get the photo on Saturday.
jroque4 stables Roadrunner II is tabbed at 17/1. The 6yr old A.P. Indy competator might need a bit more racing room. He won at 11f two races back and his best running has been at greater distances. He’s another front end runner who likes a clear view of the track. Struggling jockey M. McMurty will guide him.
an interesting entry at 18/1 is rawleycans stable entry Set Me At Ease(IRE). This competator has been off the track for a while..rest… injury who knows. But his 17/21 lifetime record bespeaks of ability. He’s had only had 4 trips over the main track..and got a check for three of them, while producing 100+ speed figures and a 2:02 time. He’s for real..but is he in form? Sophnore jockey D.J. Joe will be up…HHHUUUMMMMMMM?
At 19/1 showboat stables sends out the 4yr old Opera House colt Counting Ballet. No photos in 2005 says he won’t in this one.
Rounding ou the field are 29/1 entry Slamed and 31/1 contender Slew’s My Pop Pop.
