Gals in charge of DPCD Filly & Mare Sprint (Division 1)

Delaware–   The old grey mares, they ain’t what they used to be….. but they’re lucky gals to be running for $500k smackeroos.

There were so many 3YO+ candidates for the DPCD Filly & Mare Sprint, that the DelPenn powers that be had to split the group into two wily divisions.   Seventeen go in Division 1 and they’ll test a straight three-quarters of  a mile.   The main track’s fast …. let’s see what the residency sent out for this contest…….

#1 –  Ain’t gonna do nothin’ here.   Why haven’t you bred this Cat Thief mare yet, Stretch?   Ha!  At least Cat Baby has a future date with perhaps some Mr. Prospector son to look forward to.   In the meantime though, she’s in for a schlacking Saturday.    19/1

#2 –  If I Could Fly, I’d be so high!  Happy, happy, joy, joy!  Happy-appy!  Soooo, where’s the good stuff, Tony?   Doh!  Don’t tell me that bong-meister Jeff all squirreled it away for himself.   :^(    28/1

–> #3 –  Big contender in ritchie’s Dixie Chic Whoops.   Rides 3-race win streak, climbing the ladder to stakes ranks.  Closer factors in perfectly here.  A real shot at the winner’s circle.  7/1
#4 –   Pleasanter hasn’t won much and is getting up there in years.  One last hurrah I suppose before a date with a lucky fella.  Races for rocinante.   31/1

#5 –  Wayne’s got somethin’ up his sleeve with the ol’ turf-to-dirt switcheroo.  Stars Over Texas is OK, but posts average SP#s in turf sprints versus sophomores.  Difficult company for this Kingmambo daughter, but if anyone can pull off a whopper hat trick, it’s fatattck!   24/1

#6 –  Super-gadzookie fires off another royal bred from their arse-nal.  ALWer Ruse competitve, but this is a big leap.   Possible for a minor share.   Races from midpack.  13/1

–> #7 – Tcopyright sends out a recent sprint stakes winner in Alberta T.   Albert The Great 4YO wins her share at the black type level.  Should be in the hunt from behind the pace.   Granted, she’s a soft racetime favorite with those recent speed figs and getting up there in starts too.  Not without a shot for some major dough.    5/1

–> #8 –  Here’s a nice one worthy of the winner’s circle.   Poppop’s Queen Of the Mambo has had a better than average career.  Won 2 of last 3 in ALW company.  Closer could pick up some fine $$$ if she can translate recent form into black type glory.     6/1

–> #9 –   Another threat but must overcome recent form.   Zwango1’s Suicide Solution has tossed a pair of duds of late.   Took her a while I guess to recover from graded debacle.  We’ll see if she shows up.   7/1

#10 –  Woo!  The Super-conductors have a live longshot with Misgiven.   Sophomore hasn’t found her best groove yet, but did enjoy 7.5f two back.   Proceeded to add to her inconsistency, throwing clinker LTO though.  Will the real Misgiven step forward please?  Sleeper.   20/1

#11 –   Gold On Her Finger was a stakes winner this season versus her age group.   Floundered a lot of late, trying to see if she’s a router.   Don’t be misled by her slow SP# dirt sprint win LTO — it was against a short field and that’s all she needed.  Could surprise, but would need her lifetime best.  A true outsider for kearsarge.   20/1

#12 –  Revelation rushes this promising Mineshaft filly.  Speedy Mine Bender picked up two straight recently at 5.5f dirt.   Versus her age group though and tests much tougher here.  Litmus test…. can go south in a hurry.   Interesting, we don’t know how good she is.  I’ll pass though and look for more experience.   18/1

–> #13 –  Barb’s Super Duper is another candidate sophomore to upset her elders.    Stakes winner in sprints this year.   Woodman daughter also just missed in her last two.   Good shot for jakematt and if she can versatiley sit behind the frontrunners, clear of closers’ traffic……  Real chance.     6/1

#14 –  Obstreperous sure wins one for the spelling bee.  Four starts only this year for the malekfarms homebred.  Bred to go a stretch of ground.   Slim to none chance.   45/1

#15 –  Gargantuan says it all for the size of this field.  Tony checks in with another zinger.   Yick, yick, yahoo!   Bad apple — you can always just breed over the filly and then you’d be able to breed her foals in a couple years.  Pushing the envelope of course next year to, but I always avoid that — it’s too expensive for just a bad turnip royal bred.  44/1

#16 –   Hey, Laura!  Old grey mare Digging For Gold has had a rewarding $600k career.  Time for date with a spunky young stallion.  🙂   18/1

#17 –   Oct Phyllis from al stable appears in over her head.   Too slow SP#s to make much of a dent here.  10/1

Snowchief’s Picks:

It’s a toss up, but I’ll go with the Dixie Chic filly and Barb’s Super Duper.   No tasty longshots.  🙁

Win:    Barb’s Super Duper
Place:  Dixie Chic Whoops
Show:  Suicide Solution

Good luck to DelPenners!
