Gold Squall The One To Beat

Gold Squall The One To Beat

6 fillies have gathered for this sprint on the grass at Ostend this week and a great race beckons. 1500 metres is the distance for the Memphis Bird Stakes and the latest whispers are that Gold Squall has this one in the bag. Let’s take a look at the field.

Gold Squall is the favourite for this rated a 3/2 chance. She is going to take a world of beating, this gal is the number 2 ranked filly in the division and rightly so her track record speaks for itself. No doubt paseana92 is wrapped with this Storm Cat daughter. Won’t be beaten.

Tete Saxon (FR) has drawn the 2nd alley and will get a good run the whole way. She too is a smart young filly with a bright future. 5 wins from 16 starts she has shown that she is more than capable in stakes company although something went awefully amiss last start. Providing Therion has corrected that problem this gal will give this one a big shake.

Ash Highway is another proven in stakes company and won easily in style last time out following a grade 2 shocker just before that. She’ll likely sit towards the front of them again and be one of the main players in this. This Danzig filly is exceptionally bred and has so far been very good. Hard to beat.

Alberta Fire started from an oilspill and this Seeking The Gold girl is also a good chance here. 5 wins from 18 starts she has really shown a liking for grass sprints. Has Horowitz on board who has been known to throw a race is the only query no doubt oilspill will have given some stern words.

Bux Noelle G will hopefully run better than it is named. Buxpasser has her running very well of late and she was a stakes winner just 2 starts back. She’s a genuine batler and an honest horse, she’ll run well again as she always does but whether she has the class to topple a couple of these remains to be seen.

Canis Dirus is another well bred filly and this time by Capote out of a Fusaichi Pegasus mare. She has been flying of late although a slight let up last start where she ran into a pretty hot field. She will enjoy dropping back to face her own age group and so long as Jean Claude has his mind on riding this girl will be given every chance at taking the honours.

Summary: A great race looms here and will be well worth watching. Gold Squall looks the obvious choice and shouldn’t be beaten here. However if she is any one of the other 5 is capable in an evenly matched affair.
