The Blue Ant Handicap

Along with all the other great races sponsored by DelPenn this week in New Jersey we have fourteen classy colts going for GradeI  glory in the Blue Ant Handicap over seven furlongs on the fast dirt.

On present form and times recorded any one of the fourteen entrants is capable of winning this prestigious event.

At 11/1 and ranked 106 we have saver’s  Gone West colt Privileged who is 2 from 5 and is returning to the sprinting ranks after two fair efforts over routes.  He won a Stakes over 5.5 three runs back and if he has improved since than and it appears he has than he is in this with a chance.

Showing 14/1 is thebandit’s  Dayjur colt Jumping Sal ranked 43 and is 3 from 6 and is the winner of one Stakes two starts back. He has also recorded two seconds in Stakes one being at his last start. Seven furlongs appears his best distance and his times have been good the only question is the jump in class. If he handles the class rise he may take some running down.

At 10/1 and ranked 27 is epic’s Tapit colt Lulu’s First Tap who is 3 from 8 and is coming off a poor performance at his latest start over 8.5 and prior to that he ran a good race to finish seconded in a GradeI over 8.5. His other run over a distance was also not one of his best. Epic has switched him back to sprinting  and he looks much better placed, and looks a definite chance here at good odds.

At 6/1 and ranked 14 is super18’s  Fusaichi Pegasus colt Fusaichi Flyer who is 3 from 7 whose last two runs have been disappointing for his connections. Last start he was switched back from routes to a sprint  but died on his run. Prior to him trying routes he won a Grade3 in great style and a top time. This colt only has to show that form in this and he will be hard to toss.

At 9/1 and ranked 56 is super25’s A.P. Indy colt Super Tornado who is 3 from 6 who at his last run was switched back to sprints in a GradeI but faied to fire. He ran a second over the mile prior to that at his only run over a route. Won three from three over sprints before the mile run which included two Stake wins. Another who if he can regain his form and improve his times will give this a shake.

At 10/1 and ranked 127 is zewango’s Storm Cat colt Wylde Cat who is 2 from 5 and at his last start came home strongly over 6 furlongs to get third with a fair time. The run before that he finished strongly over 7 furlongs to win a Stakes. The distance should suit and with a heap of speedsters present he should be right in this if he can handle the jump in class.

At 9/1 and ranked 44 is tigerman’s War Chant colt Border War who is 3 from 9 and a last start winer of a Stakes over 6 furlongs with a super time. He has had two cracks at Graded races without setting the world on fire but he is a much improved colt and if he can repeat his last run could come home over the top of this field.

At 6/1 and ranked 3 is sarava02’s Coronado’s Quest colt Fappaburst who is 2 from 6 and flew home in a GradeI at his last run to bet second and record a great time. Prior to that  run he collected a Stakes win over 6.5 with another strong finish in good time. The fast pace that will be set will suit this colts whirlwind finish  and we know the class won’t worry him , so look for him coming over the top of this field and is going to prove hard to beat.

At 11/1 and ranked 48 is super30’s Charismatic colt Glide Slope  who is 4 from 5. who after one crack at mile was switched back to the sprints and has won two Stakes in a row., the latest being over 6.5 in which he recorded a fair time. This colt is another who loves to at the front so the pace is going to be a cracker and provided they don’t run one  another into the ground they may go to fast for the late finishers. This bloke is definitely in provided he also handles the rise in class.

At 17/1 and ranked 149 is pup’s Indian Territory colt Indian Cat T who is 1 from 7 who showed a giant improvement at his last run with a great time to collect second over 7 at Stakes level. The run before was in a  Grde 3 over a mile and he didn’t appreciate the distance. He has run in two other Graded events for fair results and if he repeats his last run is another flying machine who will make this one hell of a race.

At 9/1 and ranked 117 is cheadle’s Forestry colt Moneygrowsontrees who is 2 from 5 with a last start second in a Grade3 over the mile to his credit with a good time. His two wins including a Stakes win have been over the shorter distances. Three starts back he won a Stakes over 7.5 with a good time. He seems a bit of an enigma and it will be interesting to see how he handles the drop in distance, but he is more than capable of holding his own in this event.

At 10/1 and ranked 30 is inzy6’s Annihilate colt Whisperly  who is 3 from 11 and is comoing off a very impressive third in a GradeI in smart time. This colt has yet to win above Allowance level but has been a consistent improver as his last run showed. There is no doubt he is up to this class and is over due for a win and this just maybe the one he breaks through in to ignite his career.

At 18/1 and ranked 111 is dundey7’s Boston Harbor colt The Curse Lives and is 3 from 9 who ran out of puff over 8.5 at his last start but his run prior to that was a good Stakes win in fair time. Another colt who loves to be at the head of the pack and he may find that the rise in class will find him out in this field.

At 11/1 and ranked 260 is 11putts Valid Expectations colt Vicenicetwice who is 2 from 6 and has been campaigning over the routes at his last three starts. His last run was a ripper just failing to get up over the mile in a Stakes with a smart time. The winner of one sprint and one route, he may find the class here a little strong though he is an improver and could quite easily cause an upset.

There you have it a field of tearaways versus hard finishers and it should make for a superb race so good luck to all and may the racing Gods smile upon you.
