Fillies and mares, 3 years old and up

As 6 fillies and mares head to Mexico, there is not much between them.  The fillies are up against some brilliant older company in this Grade II but the fillies are looking to continue some stella careers.

STAR WEST – This gun little filly just keeps on improving.  At 8/1 she has every hope of finishing top 3.  With exceptional breeding and every run better than the last, Star West is looking to add to her 3 wins for naracing2 and expect her to be coming from the back of the field.

WHERES SLIMFAST – ironstable to their credit pulled a master stroke when recently switching this powerful mare back to turf, a move which has seen an improvement in the mare and at 11/1 is still a big hope of a top 3 finish.  Expect her to lead them into the straight.

ALBERTA GOLD – Equal favourite in this race at 2/1.  This young filly has earned nearly $1000000 which is a credit to any horse and trainer.  A slight hiccup last start may suggest that it’s time for a spell but give her another crack at a top race and she’s capable of anything.  She will most likely sit around the middle of the field and make her charge late.

I CAN HEAR YOU – This mare will be looking for a quick tempo from the start.  She is likely to set the pace and will need to open up a big lead to hold off the favourites.  With yielding turf she will be likely to struggle again as in her last start but has produced good enough times to be competitive.

RIVERBOAT QUEEN – This 4 yr old filly has produced the quickest recent runs out of the field but may struggle if her last run is anything to go by.  She would prefer a much firmer surface where she has produced her best runs but a 50% win strike rate is high enough to suggest she will finish top 2, along with the fact that the punters like her at 2/1.

KING SNAKE – Recent form has been declining for this young filly and has not yet had an off-track run.  She has awesome breeding with the successful combination of the Seattle Slew and Sadler’s Wells lines and is looking to have a very bright future.
