Friar Gets The Nod On The Power
Friar Gets The Nod On The Power
Five 2 year colts will tough it out over 1100m this week on the turf and the weatherman is predicting a nice day so if you get to the track not only will the sun be shining but you’ll get to see a good days racing. $60,000 is the purse here and it looks to be a fairly evenly matched affair, let’s take a look at the field……
Seeking The Lass looks to be a sensational Seeking The Gold colt and has put a cool $106,180 in the bank from just 8 starts for richardobe. Boasting a turf sprint rank of 82 and having tones of ability, this colt looks to be in with a great show here and that’s why the bookies aren’t prepared to risk him beyond 9/5. He’s a stakes winner and has placed in group 3 company and although hasn’t featured strongly in his last couple has top hoop K Bowen on board to help pilot him to victory. One of the better chances.
Woette’s Power will jump from alongside Seeking The Lass and is by Mountain Cat and is nothing but class. Four wins from 6 starts this fellow thrives on the turf and will again take a world of beating. He’s rated an even chance for this and there is no wonder why, he’s a genuine star in the making and will likely jump well as he always does and go gate to wire. The big man K Friar never puts in a bad one either so lots to like about this guy.
I’ve Got Wood looks to be boxing well above his weight here as he looks to take on some very smart juveniles. I don’t like his chances based on form and would prefer to see him in something a bit easier than this at this stage in his career. Interesting to note that he hasn’t ran on turf yet so in that respect is a bit of an unknown quantity, may just prove the bookies wrong if the grass is to his liking.
Point A.P is another who is untried on the surface. Hard to assess. Big run last time out although down in class compared with this and on dirt, this colt is exceptionally bred and looms as a danger to the top two. Just the one victory to his name to date, Point A.P has the potential to unleash something out of the blue I feel and may just like the swap to turf. At 7/2 there has been a bit of money for him however I think he’ll have to be right on top of his game to cross the line first given the talent of some of the colts here. Chance.
Debt Reduction has drawn barrier 5 for this and is one of the less fancied runners at 7/1. Looking back through his form he looks to have been set a difficult task here and I really can’t see him troubling the top two. Third place may be his best chance but am dubious he will pull off that. Negnal will have to work a training miracle to get this guy home first.
