2yo Lasses Take The Spotlight
Six young lasses have lined up for this week’s race, The Passing Storm Stakes for 2yo ladies going 6.5 furlongs on dirt for a purse of $80,000. Foxon3’s Future Possible is the morning line favorite at 2/1 and has top jockey Z. Kentucky up for the ride. This sleek daughter of Victory Gallop is already a stakeswinner, and has also run second and third in two others. Her only finish off the board was last time out when she attempted to route.Unidentified(IRE) goes off at 9/2 and has E.C. Doyle in the irons. A beautifully-bred daughter of Giant’s Causeway(IRE), she also has only finished off the board once, and that was on turf. She won an allowance last time out, and has shown improvement in each start.Patricia Redding is going off at 7/2, but she has a less than desirable jockey today. A daughter of Red Bullet, she placed in a stakes last time out.Although she is the longshot at 13/1, Follow Your Heart is stakes placed. Despite winning an allowance and hitting the board in that stakes, her breeder entered her into the claiming ranks. Her next owner did the same, but current owner grade1win sees the potential in her. SJ’s Royal Dixie has chosen this spot to make her first start on dirt. The Dixieland Band girl is going off at 7/2 and has Mizzi Russell in the saddle. She hit the board in four turf stakes before a yielding surface threw her off last time out. Second choice in the betting is mook’s Dumb Donut(GB) at 3/1. A daughter of Slip Anchor(GB), she has won two stakes and placed in two others, and holds a dirt sprint ranking of 33. Ireland’s second leading jockey A. Reed gets the mount.Well, it may be a short field, but it’s certainly not short on talent! Tune in Saturday to see which of these lovely lassies will get to drink Guinness out of the winner’s cup after the race. Good luck to all the runners and may they all come home sound.
