Big Time Star Shines Brightly

Under a confident ride from world class jockey Ozzy Osbourne, Big Time Star lived up to her name in Saturday’s featured Rapid Ruckus Challenge.  The Aldebaran lass stalked pacesetting Sally Speedbag’s every move, put that one away in headstretch, and easily held off the late bid of favored Banana Empire to post an open lengths win in a quick 1:36.4 for the mile test.

With the victory, her fourth lifetime and her second stakes success, Big Time Star pushed her career earnings over the one hundred thousand dollar mark and stamped herself as a force to be reckoned with among freshman routers.

I talked to her connections following the race.  First, here’s what Mr. Osbourne had to say.  “This filly is a Cadillac.  Strictly pushbutton.  She likes to be up close so I let her settle in along side the leader.  When I asked her to run, she absolutely exploded!  We could have won by much more but she’s had a busy year already so I shut her down a sixteenth out.  They don’t pay any more money for going faster,” chuckled Osbourne.

Trainer Canismajor was equally ebullient.  “This filly just keeps getting better and better.  I trained and bred her mom, Chicago F(ire), so Star really means a lot to me.  I’ll give her six weeks off and look for a graded race for her.  She earned a shot at the big girls today.”
