5 Turf LadiesTake On Wisconsin

Welcome to race day here in Wisconsin, where we have the premier race on the card coming up, the Prospector Dancer Special, an 11 furlong stakes for Fillies and Mares, 3 years and up, on the Firm Turf course.  We have only 5 runners today, but it will be anything but a run away victory for any horse in this race.  We have a talented group of ladies here today so, let’s see who’s here……

Breaking from the rail, in PP1, we have Noble Jenelle(IRE) #86216 ( El Prado(IRE) x Nashwan x Vaguely Noble).  This light grey 4 year old is trained by iant7 and has been lightly raced thus far in her career, with only 10 races under her belt.  She has won 3 of those races, with one of those a stakes win.  She started her career on dirt, but has really improved since coming onto the grass, putting up her high sp of 96 in an Allowance and winning her first stakes try.  She can definately go the distance of this race but will have to picked it up a little to have a chance at winning.  She is going off at 4/1, and has jock L.Cihak in the irons.

Next, breaking from PP2, we have Noverre Alla Cozze(IRE) #10853 (Noverre(IRE) based on Pal Bomb(Cozzene x Damister)).  This dark grey 4 year old is a corzak trainee and has started 33 times in her career and coming home in front 14 times, with 4 of those being stakes wins.  She has only gone past 11 fl twice in her life, with one win and her last stakes win came at 10.5 fl four starts back, so she should be able to make the distance, but her high sp of 96 came from a 9.5fl stakes, which seems to say she likes the classic distances a little more than these longer races, but its hard to say.  She is off at 5/2 today and jockey C. Buckle has the mount.

Breaking in the middle from PP3, we have Lake Carnegie #84402 (Vindication x Honor Grades x Stutz Blackhawk).  The brown princeton trainee is the young’n of the group, being 3 years old.  She has raced 10 times in her career so far, winning only one race, where she broke her maiden.  She has run in two stakes thus far and placed or showed in both of them, and ran against older horses in both of those stakes.  In her last start she finished second in a 12fl stakes, which says she should be able to handle 11 fl. But her high sp of 89,  in an Allowance, says she is going to need to improve a bit to hit the board in this one.  She is the longshot in this race, going off at 8/1 and has jock B. Redding up in the irons.

Next, breaking from PP4, we have Rainah #52477 (Fusaichi Pegasus out of Storm Sadie(Saint Ballado x Storm Cat)).  This brown stormcat55 trained mare is the veteran of the runners today, being 6 years old and having raced 57 times in her career.  She won 20 of those 57 races, with 13 of those wins being stakes races.  She has won 3 stakes in a row, before her dismal 4th LTO.  She has been capable of putting up 100+ sp’s in her career, with a 103 5 starts back in a 8.5fl alw and she has raced beyond 11fl, with good results, so she will be one to watch today, unless wear&tear decide to suddenly kick in on her.  She is the favorite today, going off at 6/5, and has Wisconsin’s top jock C. Capper in the saddle today.

And last, but certainly not least, we have breaking from PP5, Exclamation #14490 (Kingmambo based on Exhilarate(A.P.Indy x Alysheba)). This 4 year old chestnut filly is a serpent trainee and has started 21 times in her life, winning 4 of those.  This is only her second stakes start, finishing second in her first stakes LTO going 14fl.  A former claimer, she has a high sp of 99, which came two starts back in a Starter Allowance at 12fl.  She can definately make the distance of today’s race and has a good shot at hitting the board, or even winning with a bit of improvement.  She goes off at 7/2 and has jock P. Brandes up in the irons.

As you can see, there is a bit of talent in this race and it will not be easy to tell who will take it, but I might have to go with the 4 the favorite Rainah to win this one, simply because of her experience, but her age and number of races might catch up to her.  Another one I would watch for is the 5, Exclamation, who has done well lately and might snatch this one if Rainah doesn’t show up, but any of the other fillies in this race might do that as well.  Well, have a wonderful race day and good luck to all the horses and trainers in this race.
