Freshmen turfers test Ascot mile

Ascot-   We’ve got 11 freshmen colts and fillies in this week’s featured $90,000 Hardly With Marc Special.

Most accomplished in the field is Dehere’s Gold at 5/1.   The Dehere filly bagged a Grade 3 LTO in pace pressing fine form over 7.5f.  Filly fell a length shy in lone 8f route.  Improving sort should be right there at the wire if she can beat the boys.

Super18’s Badder Than Bad(IRE) (5/1) draws 14-hole.   El Prado(IRE) son placed well in both turf sprint stakes outings and seems well suited in this spot for two-turns debut.   Improving colt facotr for the win if he can finally break 80 sP# barrier.  The mile might be jsut the ticket to do.

Oaklawn88 sends out Mr Bandito (5/1) who’s been perfect at 2 for 2 since switched to lawn.  Mr Greeley son relaxed well off lead in 8f ALW score LTO.  Makes stakes debut.

Grimmy’s filly Celestial Reef(IRE) (5/1) just missed over this distance LTO.   Galileo(IRE) daughter bred for big stamina.  Gal demonstrated her talent in pair of turf sprint victories.  Decent threat for board.

At 6/1, contender3’s Tycoon Contender(IRE) is a winner of 5 of 7 so far including a couple black type scores.   Intresting Last Tycoon(IRE) youngster facestoughest competition yet.   Did enjoy 7f jump LTO with no problems — sire was a champion sprinter, but no reason to suspect that this colt won’t enjoy the extra furlong.  Promising if he can scale the two-turns.

Stevesutto brings Devil’s King(IRE) to the gate at 6/1.  Refuse To Bend(IRE) son impressively wired MSW 8f event LTO with 89 SP#.   SP# best in the field.  Same effort puts him in winner’s circle if he can hold off pace pressers.

The rest of the field:
  • Bbudgies’ filly Green Again(IRE) (10/1) should enjoy two-turns debut.   Filly has been right there at wire in turf sprints.  Outside shot.
  • Landen1’s Tessa’s Superstar (11/1) stakes-placed after 5 outings.   By Saratoga Six.   Should be near lead in hopes to enjoy the extra sixteenth.
  • Red Eyes(IRE) (14/1) from dori stable bred to go classic to long distnaces by High Chapparal.  Not much luck nor SP#s in sprints — we’ll see how he steps it up over short mile.
  • Unraced Desert King colt Desert Ransom (15/1) races for olympic stable.
  • 21/1 filly Light Year got hurt LTO.  Toss that race out and she’s 2 for 2 at 8f or more on lawn.  Aldebaran daughter yet to break 80 SP#, but can’t be discounted if she steps forward after layoff.   Might need a race though for canisminor.
Picks:
Win:    Devil’s King(IRE)
Place:  Badder Than Bad(IRE)
Show:  Celestial Reef(IRE)

Good luck to all.
