Freshmen Doombringer, Silvershaft faves at Wisconsin
Wisconsin– The $50,000 Alybluegrass Stakes brings together a full field of 14 freshmen going 8f on the main track……..
Greenapple’s Doombringer (5/1) co-fave after sandwiching an 8f ALW score between so-so stakes outings. Piont Given royal bred not running to his lines yet — still, he’s bred to go classic distance. Will hopefully step forward, and, if not, hit the board, eyeing 8.5f, 9f down the road.
Mineshaft son Silvershaft (5/1) closed splendidly in winning 80 SP# 7.5f MSW debut. Another effort like that puts him in winner’s circle. Races for lenny6.
Stakes winner Pegs ‘R Us (6/1) won photo after setting easy pace over 7.5f. Fusaichi Pegasus royal bred didn’t care for off track LTO. Should find this company to his liking for oddsonpop. Factor for the win if he can overcome pace scramble.
At 7/1, Vicenicetwice by Valid Expectations bagged 8f ALW with 88 SP#. Suffered furious pace battle over 8.5f stakes LTO and finished up well enough in second. May surprise for 11putts.
Lbgong sends the 7/1 shot Gran Hope to battle. Strong Hope colt bagged first two dirt sprints, then fared fairly in stakes leap. Faces speed duel this time around. Factor for board.
The rest of the field:
- At 10/1, 24flat’s Personal Concern threw a puzzler also-ran LTO. Personal Hope bargain baby still a maiden, but threw 87 SP# runner-up effort a few back. Must step forward or back to proper MSW ranks.
- Tmachine’s Adhara (11/1) closed well over mile in last. Aldebaran son looks to improve from midpack. Not very flashy, but improving with distance.
- Fantastic Light son Light From Light (14/1) tired to 7th after setting pace in Grade 2 company LTO. Starstruck trainee bagged both dirt races prior, including 77 SP# over 8f. Bred for stamina and displays ability over either surface. Patience.
- Kibs’ Explosive Touch (15/1) sure does his daddy, Diamond, proud. Little guy the master of 3 of 6 outings. Stakes debut after gritty pace battle over 8f 84 SP#. Fans will be rooting for him as they do all Diamond colts. 🙂
- At 15/1, General Blackie from buzzsaw stable should enjoy two turns. Black Mambo son keeps rallying in sprints and looks like a textbook candidate for at-long-last route attempt. Has to scale class leap too. Outsider.
- War Chant grandson Warrant Ted (16/1) didn’t want any part of Grade 1 group LTO. Colt was impressively 2 for 2 around 8f in prior outings. Stalker should enjoy this field much more. Outside shot for win.
- Deadman’s Astroglider (17/1) closed well over mile in his last. Atticus son notched maiden score over 7f in prior. Female family bred for mucho stamina. Still learning the ropes. Outsider.
- 18/1 shot SJ’s Gutter Ball from booberry stable finally broke maiden in his last. It was his route debutand resulted in wire to wire 84 SP# romp. Will be pressed this time around if he even manages to grab lead for his own. Outside chance for tenpins colt if he can step his game up anopther notch.
- Another go for cjt’s Azroc Red N Yellow (23/1) aftrer getting injured in last start. Won 7.5f Maiden in prior. Green Desert son bred to go much longer and displays versatility over both surfaces. Patience.
Picks:
Win: Warrant Ted
Place: Adhara
Show: Light From Light or one of the pacesetters
Good luck to all.
