Minnesota Maidens

Welcome to the first race of the Minnesota Race Day. We have 20 maidens, 5 of these first time starters, going for their first win. They will be running 6 furlongs over the Good Dirt Course.  It looks to be a competitive race, so let’s see who’s here….

PP1:#105478 Glide Einstein(49/1)….This pict3 trained brown colt is a son of Lexicon out of a Son of Briartic mare.  He has raced twice, but has not hit the board in either of them. He has posted a high sp of 65.  He will really need to improve to have a chance against some of the runners here today.

PP2: #102443 Stilettos(10/1)…This brown citation trained filly is a daughter of A.P. Indy out of Well Heeled(Sadler’s Wells x Riverman).  She has run three times and finished third once, where she posted her high sp of 72 going 8fl.  She has a good chance of it today, but I believe she might like her races a bit longer than 6fl.

PP3:#99719 Rhythmisadancer(IRE)(19/1)…The minnow trainee is a brown colt by Not Impossible(IRE) out of Secret Brush(Broad Brush x Secretariat). He has been better since his switch to the main course, and has hit the board with a second and a third in 4 lifetime starts. He posted a 77sp in an 8fl race as his high sp so far.  He also might like a bit more distance, but could have a shot with a bit of improvement.

PP4: #108262 Blur(5/1)…This desperado3 trained filly is the first of the five first time starters and is also the cofavorite in this race.  She is a daughter of Aldebaran out of Alias Buda(Storm Cat x Seattle Slew).  Her sire so far has been producing dirt sprinters, and Storm Cat, well, need I say more.  As she is a first time starter, I am not sure how she will do, but if anything, it will be fun to watch.

PP5:#46668 Tricky One(23/1)…This colt is trained by rlogan and has raced four times.  He has hit the board three times with 2 seconds and a third. He is a son of Crafty Prospector out of a Polish Precedent mare.  He has posted a high sp of 78 while going 7 fl, so sprinting should be no problem for him and he might have a shot if he picks it up a little.

PP6: #108462 Vindicate Me(5/1)…The wnrscircle trainee is the second of the five first timers here today and is the other cofavorite.  He is a son of Vindication out of a Storm Cat mare.  His sire has definately thrown some dirt sprinters thus far in the sim, so he should be a good one to watch here.

PP7: #102236 Rock River Empire(10/1)…This jimj2 trainee has raced five times in his career and has finished second twice and third once.  He is a son of Empire Maker out of Highest Praise(Woodman x Cozzene).  He has one of the highest sps of the runners with an 80 going 6.5fl.  He will be one of the many to watch in this race, but has a good chance of taking it, or at least hitting the board.

PP8:#32417 Spiderman’s Gold(59/1)…This pict trained filly has raced 6 times this year, but only hit the board once with a third place.  Her highest sp to date has been a 68.  She is a daughter of Parker’s Storm Cat out of a Banker’s Gold mare.  She will definately have some trouble here, even though her better races have been on the dirt.

PP9: #1613 King Max(10/1)…The rmkj16 trained colt has raced four times and has hit the board in every one with 2 seconds and 2 thirds.  He is a son of Gulch out of a Red Ransom mare.  His highest sp was an 80 in a 6.5fl sprint, and seems to be one to watch for today.

PP10: #82203 General Pegasus(16/1)… This daydreams0 trainee is a son of General Assembly out of Loud Canyon(Fusaichi Pegasus x Cherokee Fellow).  He has started once and finished third with a 71 sp at 5 fl.  He has never tried this distance before, but has run on an off track, but will need to improve a bit to hit the wire first.

PP11:#106509 Bird Stoned(13/1)…The metro trained colt is a son of Birdstone out of Princess Ollie(Tabasco Cat x Nijinsky II).  He has raced once and finished second, with a 77 sp at 6 fl.  He has a chance at least to hit the board with a little improvement.

PP12:#2209 Family Guy(20/1)…This moleh trained filly is a daughter of Roar out of a Bail Jumper mare.  She has raced 7 times so far and hitting the board 3 times with a second and 2 thirds. Her high sp was a 73 at a mile, and seems to prefer her routes to her sprints.

PP13:#107766 Super Slewper(99/1)…This deyoto3 trained filly is another first time starter and has drawn into a tough first race.  She is a daughter of Super Jet out of a Cape Storm mare.  Her sire has only 3 other runners and those have predominately been dirt sprinters.

PP14:#102002 Masterboard(IRE)(25/1)…The limeteen filly has raced three time and hit the board in all three with 2 seconds and a third.  She is a daughter of Peintre Celebre(IRE) out of Queen Shannon(GB)(Xaar(GB) x Eastern Echo).  She has posted a high sp of 70 going 6.5fl, and will definately have to pick it up to have a chance of winning.

PP15:#106718 Long Haul(AUS)(20/1)…This johnno4 trained filly is a daughter of Lonhro(AUS) out of a Phone Trick mare. She has only raced once and came in second in that race with a 75sp.  She will need to improve a little off that first run to have a shot here.

PP16:#9878 Sin Icle(29/1)…The babergrey trainee is a daughter of Gulch based on Mixing Tap(Signal Tap x Personal Flag).  She has raced three times but has failed to hit the board in all of them.  Her best sp to date was a 68.  She has a tough race here, will need to really improve to hit the board against some of the others in this race.

PP17:#81938 Mr Mechanic(IRE)(12/1)…This candyman trained colt is a son of Perfect Soul(IRE) based on Whata Cool Cat(Storm Cat x Mr Prospector).  He has raced before and has a high sp of 78 going 6fl.  He has also raced on an off track with a good result, so he definately has a chance of reaching the wire in front.

PP18:#104328 Just A Gigolo(16/1)…The rhfarms trainee is a son of Afleet out of Sunday Flight(Sunday Silence x Unfuwain).  He has raced twice and finished third in one.  His highest sp of 69 came while routing while his sprint sp was a 67, which will not get it done with this crowd.

PP19:#108365 Maasai(19/1)…This is another one of those first time starters.  This lilscoobi trained colt is a son of Smarty Jones out of an Academy Award mare.  Most of Smarty Jones’ runners have been sprinting as this is his first crop, but they have been improving with distance later on, so there is a good possiblity here, but this is a tough race to start in.

PP20:#107348 Minnesota Edgy(19/1)… The theodore1 trainee is the last, but not least, of the first time starters.  She is a daughter of The Cliff’s Edge out of a Tabasco Cat mare.  Her sire was himself a dirt router, so she might prove to like miles later on, but a sprint is as good a place to start as any, but she has drawn into a tough first time out.

Whew…well, I am sure this will be a competitive race by the looks of things, with so many options, so little time, and so many surprises, which maidens often give you.  I am going to keep my picks secret for now(as I am often proven wrong), and am going to sit back in the stands and enjoy the ride.  Good luck to all owners in this race, and to all owners participating in the Minnesota Race Day.
