The Epicenter Grade III

Hello everyone and welcome to another week of racing in the sim.  With the Triple Crown races well behind us, and the Equanics coming up on the sim world fast, there has been very few Graded stakes races over the past weeks.  Although there is very few of these, there is still a couple and I welcome everyone to New York for the running of this years Grade II The Epicenter.  This race will be running a mile and a quarter on the firm turf.  This years field of six fillies and mares that are three years old or older will all be fighting for their piece of that 250,000 purse.

1.  Thebigm sends this California bred out with N. Lawton on her back.  SJ’s Carsonado is a 2/1 shot in today’s race, and will be looking to get back to the winners circle in Graded company after faltering last time out in the Grade I Ugly Breeders Bowl Distaff.  This girl has 25 races under her belt and has won over half of them with 13 wins.  In those 25 races she has failed to hit the board just five times.  She has been on fire lately winning three out of her five races while placing second and fourth in the other two.  Her career best speed figure of 112 came in her first race of the year where she ran a 112 speed figure while winning a listed stakes.  She will be looking for her fifth graded win of her career today.

2. Japanese bred Sin N’ Grin, a 5/2 shot, will look to earn his owner testbarn5 some money in today’s race.  B. Child  will get the ride today on this girl.  Testbarn5 purchased this girl from fatattack2 back in 2011 and has had success with her ever since.  Since entering the testbarn stables this girl has four wins in fourteen races and has hit the board eight out of fourteen times.  Her last two races she has really come around winning both listed stakes races with speed figures of 111 and 107.  Her career best speed figure came with that 111 speed figure win two races back.  She is 15 of 23 for hitting the board in her career and looks to pickup win number nine today.

3.  The 4/1 shot in today’s race will Baby Beluga.  Owner mickyb3 hopes that jockey P. Davis will ride this horse to the winners circle.  This girl has had so much success with little wins to show for it.  In her 22 career races, she has won just four times.  She has eight second place finishes though and two thirds and has hit the board in 14 of the 22 races.  She has really shown some life over the last three races where she even posted her career best speed figure of 108 two races back.  Her last win came three races back where she won an NW4L allowance with a speed figure of 101.  She then placed second in a listed stakes two races back with that 108 speed figure.  Her last race was a third place finish in a Grade III.

4.  The 7/2 shot in today’s race is a nice Kentucky bred that looks to find a way back to the winners circle.  Owner bighoss will send out Pleanty O Heat, to run in today’s race.  The jockey will be S. Steff.  This five year old mare has had no trouble finding the winners circle in her 31 race career as she has won ten races.  She has also placed 2nd ten times and third four times bringing her hit the board total to 24 out of 31 races.  She has not been up to form her last couple of races as she has faltered in two grade III attempts.  Her last win was in December of last year, and she has not hit the board since March of this year.  She has raced six times since February and owner bighoss hopes that she has not run out of gas and can pull a win out of this small Grade III field.

5.  L. Israel will ride this 6/1 shot into what he hopes will be her first ever graded win.  Owner willyam13 was impressed with The Bar Is Closed last race, which bode her her highest career speed figure of a 106, where she finished 2nd in a Grade III while running an speed figure of 106.  This girl is very young for this field at four years old, but is also very inexperienced as she has just fourteen career races.  She has won five of those races and is 9 of 14 in hitting the board.  Her last win came back in November of last year where she won a listed stakes race.  She then took a two month break and came back to the track where she has posted speed figures of 92, 99, and 106.  She looks to continue to improve on those today

6.  Winding down here we have Something Glorious who is a 9/1 shot.  Chloedawg4 looks for his horse to hopefully pick up a win as she will get jockey N. Painter for the ride.  This five year old girl too has fourteen career races.  She has won four of those and placed second in four as well.  She is 9 of 14 in hitting the board.  She is fairly untested as she has just three stakes tries, all graded attempts, in her career.  In those three tries she has placed 9th, 4th, and 6th while running speed figures of 68, 103, and 97.  She began racing again in March after taking three months off from the 68 speed figure race where she finished 35 lengths behind.  She has also never tried the dirt in her career.

This looks to be a very good field of six runners.  You have everything in this race from older experienced horses, to young guns who are just taking their first steps into the graded ranks.  I think that this will be an entertaining race in which just about any of these horses can win.  If it were up to me, I would probably have to go with the veteran Sin N’ Grin.  I want to thank you for reading this prerace article.  This has been Dylan with your prerace write up.  Remember for all of your Sim race write ups head on over to the Black Type Bugler forum.  Now let the races begin, and good luck to all!!
