FROM THE HORSES MOUTH – 5016

From the Horses Mouth

RACE 1

1 – PERFECT WAY(NY) – lone race this level was a hand ridden gate to wire victory and average speed figure is considerably higher than anyone else in the field…take the short odds

5 – OVAL(NY) – the 1-23 lifetime five year old is probably the best of the rest which doesn’t say much for the rest

6 – SENSE OF LIFE(NY) – has been on the board in half of fourteen career starts but hasn’t been close in last four starts

RACE 2

4 – HEARTS OF FIRE(KY) – has changed hands four times in eighteen career starts with seven wins, and hasn’t been off the board since May 2010

9 – COURT EARLY(KY) – claimed in last, filly has caught fire since resurecting her turf career winning three of her last four on the green

14 – SIMPLY SAPPHIRE(AUS) – won a Stakes this distance back in October but has been unable to hit the board since in four starts including last out when dropped back into a claimer for the first time in over a year, one more chance

RACE 3

1 – RUMBLEBELLY(KY) – makes 23rd start in less than a year but has only been off the board twice in those starts, stakes winner in last, durable mare is bound to hit a wall, just not this week

3 – JEZEBELLE(KY) – has been putting up stakes like numbers in her last six starts and should continue that black type trend

4 – BEST D YET(IRE) – looks like she has regained the form that got her the 2010 G1 Equinics victory at a mile, but I would like her a lot more in a route

RACE 4

2 – EL GRAN EMPIRE(JPN) – has been facing better and just missed two back in only start this level, big chance here

3 – WILD SPEIGHTSKUNK(KY) – no telling how good this Speightstown colt is, but has done everything expected of him in his three career starts

5 – HE’S SO FEIN(FL) – Florida bred has been on the board in seven of eight starts including a 3rd place finish in an October stakes

RACE 5

10 – STORMY HAWK(KY) – colt has been ambitiously placed while racing at five different distances in his last five starts. Does his best racing over the dirt at today’s distance, at this level, and should be able to make a good account of himself this time around

8 – LUCKY’S HORIZON(KY) – makes eleventh start this level, turns back to a mile, it’s now or never

9 – THISCAVEISCOLD(NY) – overmatched in last two in Local bred Stakes, still you have to love that effort at a mile this level in January

RACE 6

2 – DIGITAL DRAGON(KY) – half to Graded winner Digital Sky, Tapit colt got things figured out last out graduating this distance when returned to the dirt, edge

6 – GAFFNEY’S(KY) – regally bred Smart Strike colt looked good breaking maiden last out and is a winner over the track

5 – SPARTACUS II(KY) – Blame colt has been good when racing on the dirt and is a sibling to long distance stakes winner Drogyn

RACE 7

2 – A WINK AND A NOD(KY) – best start came last time out going nine panels in in Upstate NY, with normal progression

4 – ACTION STAR(KY) – will need careful handling from top jock Lawton who keps the mount on the Street Cry colt out of the multi-stakes producing mare Western Starlett.

10 – XTRA ROCKY(KY) – first time starter is out of Rock Hard Ten from the multi stakes winning mare Xxtra Welcome, who made a living racing over a distance of ground, at first asking

RACE 8

11 – TIGERHAWK(AUS) – best when sprinting on the turf and is well placed to graduate on Saturday

7 – PINWOOD(AR) – should move up on the turf and has raced competitively in all three starts

9 – BUMPKEY(KY) – long overdue for a turf try, live longshot

RACE 9

4 – PERUVIAN PROSPECT(PER) – has shown a competitive nature in her last five races and gets a weak vote in a weak field

RACE 10

6 – STATE OF NIRVANA(KY) – goes from turf to dirt with added distance and would benefit from a hotly contested pace, might surprise

5 – SIMPLY MAD(KY) – regally bred odds on favorite could slip up if he gets caught up in a speed duel

3 – UNBRIDLED EMBLEM(IL) – will keep the pace honest, but could eventually wind up third again

RACE 11

7 – GIRDLES(NY) – top jock Lawton navigates this NY Bred filly out of freshman Girolamo from a mare who won three times as a two year old, two coming in her first two starts

5 – TAPIT WELL(KY) – Tapit first timer out of a mare who won at first asking as a two year old

8 – TEN GHOULS(KY) – I am always skeptical of horses that debut in the money and come back in their next start looking like an overlay like this Rock Hard Ten filly is at 13-1, most times I am tearing up my tickets

RACE 12

5 – BULL TREASURE(KY) – first or second in all seven career starts all in races 13 furlongs and longer

4 – WOETTE’S SUGAR(KY) – was keeping better company before finishing second in her last two starts and is capable of adjusting to any pace

2 – EVIE CHAPPARAL(AUS) – tries dirt for the first time and is as good an angle as anything else

RACE 13

10 – LORD PROSPEKT(KY) – throw out those off track performances, late charging filly will get a fast pace to run at in the stretch and could pull off an upset at 13-1

14 – THE KINGBREAKER(KY) – I’m not sure what happened to this filly last time out, maybe her limit is a mile, another that likes to get going in the later stages of the race and could light up the boards at a big price

2 – WHISKYTANGOFOXTROT(AUS) – undefeated in four starts on a fast dirt track and has the ability to stalk and pick up the leaders if they falter

RACE 14

3 – PREPARE TO DANCE(ENG) – graded stakes winner should make short work of pedestrian field at a generous price, best of day

4 – ANT HILL MOB(KY) – has been around the knoll more than a few times and would certainly take advantage if the top choice slips up

RACE 15

4 – INDY BY SEA(IRE) – overmatched in last, the Sea the Stars filly has learned to rate and should receive a good trip from Lawton in a field of pace setters

5 – CANCELLO DEL CIELO(KY) – is the fastest of the fast and if left uncontested will be hard to catch

8 – HALLOWED SLEW(FR) – has rediscovered the mile and is coming off a pair of tops, fast and fit

RACE 16

1 – CRYING FOR HELP(KY) – makes third start off layoff returning to Stakes level where he’s a proven contender, in top form

5 – BUDA STORM(KY) – boasts the big speed numbers and is right at home racing at this level

4 – CAPRICORNIA(IRE) – returns to a sprint where he is four wins in five starts after ten straight route races where he won only once…big shot here at 16-1
