With The Great One In NYC Truitt Takes Spotlight!
France- The $85,000 Hidden Champ (JPN) Bonanza will send seven sophomore fillies to the gate. The mile and five-sixteenths trip will be across what is expected to be a fast main track. The Great One, J. Stivers, will be riding in the Breeder’s Bowl races so with the SIMs best jockey gone, others look to shine.
Dawnrooster is 5/2 with R. Truitt. The daughter of Unbridled’s Song has hit the board in 12 of 15 lifetime tries. She is a midpack closer that should enjoy the 10.5F distance. Her recent form from a mile and an eighth to a mile and a quarter has been super with four wins and two thirds in those six starts. Will probably get some decent pace to run at late and try to nip them at the wire.
At 7/2 are Burchell Hollandia and R. Kraft. Red Bullet filly has also had good luck at the classic distance. She has two solid allowance wins prior to her last out, a stakes win over 13F. She can definitely handle Saturday’s distance. Will most likely be sitting near the fave throughout this one. Who will make the better move?
Justen G is 9/2. J. Shaver gets the call. Well bred with some nice old blood through Runaway Groom x Tom Rolfe x Nijinsky II. She will be making her ninth start and looks to extend that impressive record of three wins and four seconds. Busted the century speed mark LTO while running a well-beaten second at 10F. Just how good was the horse that beat her? Speedy type likes the lead and should get it Saturday. Has stayed 12F before. Only failure to hit the board came across the weeds. This could be her coming out party.
Exbourne’s VSOP (IRE) is 5/1. J. Delaney is in the irons. This daughter of Giant’s Causeway (IRE) has Kingmambo and Sadler’s Wells under her. This is your winner in the sale ring, but not in this race. Her average speeds are significantly slower and her current class level is allowance at best. Show me the NW3L win before trying this field.
Also at 5/1 is Waki Bullet. J. Francis is up. Second Red Bullet progeny in the field. She has four wins, one second and two thirds in her ten career starts (two of which were while she faltered on the turf in her first two starts). Deadly accurate since switching to the dirt with four of her last five ending in impressive victories. LOVES to come from way back and will probably have a good rabbit to hunt in the late stages. May like a bit more ground, but should be a major factor anyway.
Top Deputress is 7/1. D. Shuette gets a rare stakes appearance with Stivers in The Big Apple. Deputy Commander filly was hoping for a soft field on BB weekend and doesn’t get it. She has very little chance based on her last five efforts.
Also at 7/1 is Eternal City (IRE). B. Tatum is aboard. Theatrical (IRE) filly threw in an effort that resembled more of a workout than a stakes race LTO. Her 74 speed is more of an indication of how much better she was than the remaining three horses in the 14F event. She only won by three parts of a length but don’t let that last race fool you. Her previous two races were 93 and 98 speed numbers. Probably not at the level of the top choices, but should put in a good close-to-the-lead try.
