DUR SURVIVOR Season 1 – Dubai Into The Unknown

OUTPLAN, OUTRUN, OUTRIDE! – The first Immunity Race

Down Under Racing brings to you with no expense spared Survivor Season 1 – Dubai Into The Unknown

The Rules are simple

1. Horses used in Survivor must be from a stable that supports Down Under Racing for the duration of the contest. (uses existing horses)

2. The Survivor series will be a single elimination series raced weekly in nominated Bid Races (open SIM wide no passwords)

3. The races will be selected from a predetermined list of races created by the committee (these races will be available on the relevant seasons thread under the Active Contest thread for Survivor)

4. That list will be randomised before posting and the first 3 Races for the series will be the first 3 listed

5. Race 4 of the series will be selected from the remaining races by the winner of Race 1, Race 5 by the winner of Race 2 and so on until 3 players remain. The winner of the race  will have until midnight Game Time the following Monday to select their reward race

6. If a player fails to nominate their reward race, the next race on the top of the list will automatically be bid by the race committee.

7. Players eliminated will become our “JURY” when we are down to 3 players – our finalists. Each finalist can nominate a single race type from the original full list – and the JURY will then vote for 1 of the player selections

8. The final race to decide the Winner will take place 3 weeks after the 2nd last race and 2 weeks after the JURY has voted.

9. The player whose horse finishes last in a race is eliminated. As all races are bid races and may split if more than 14 horses are entered. If players horses end up splitting then the player whose horse runs the lowest SP will be eliminated

10. Every player will be given an immunity idol at the start of the Season (for Season 1 – following seasons may change to a “hidden” immunity idol concept)

11. A player can choose to play his immunity idol prior to any race up to but not including when there are only 4 remaining players.

12. To play their idol a player posts for that weeks thread that they wish to do so (after the race has closed BUT before 11:00am GAME TIME)

13. A player who has played their idol MUST have a horse entered in that weeks race, an idol cannot save a player who forgot to enter a horse (you have over 2 weeks to organise a horse for each race)

14. A player who fails to enter a horse in a race is automatically eliminated and joins our “JURY”

The Tribe Gathers For The First Immunity Race (an NW3L Allowance over 6.5 furlongs for 3yo +)

Initially there were 9 Tribe members who paraded their horses before the audience on Monday and there were also 2 outsiders who had entered. Noticing that these outsiders were freelancers and unaffiliated with any current residency, the producers duly offered them an invite to join us on the set of Survivor Dubai. Elvin aptly owner of “thebigshow” group of stables gleefully accepted and now there were 10 contestants lining up for the chance of Survivor fame. By close of entries we still had 10 contestants but 2 more “outsiders” had entered, making a total of three

Denovo – Travelling to one of the Easternmost tracks of the EWC Residency with his 6yo Colt Melt Connection (possibly an EWC Prize horse)

MrLuck – who was the other outsider invited to join but declined to reply, with their 7yo Colt Jungle Explosion

Kimugle – with a very sneaky last minute entry 5yo Colt Orkan Silport from the EURO Residency, why do I say sneaky? Because from his DUR Rasmus stables Kim had already entered Rasmus Mars the 9/2 equal 3rd favorite.

The Field

Once the field was finalised Friday saw some back and forth in the chat room and forum with some talk on who should and shouldn’t use their idol Matty (chips) was adamant that he didn’t need to use his idol even though his horse SQUIRT GUN RIDER was the clear pariah of the field at 75/1. His comment on the forum and I quote was “I am not playing my IDOL, I won’t be last home” to which a response was “I will believe that at 11:01 Game time tomorrow and I dont see your idol here lol”

OUTPLAN: (My Plan for the 47/1 shot I had claimed a month ago)

My Horse CARD FIND was only having his 3rd start when I put a claim in on him as I saw an opportunity to run him as a sprinter who could lead. So the plan for Survivor was to 1st bribe the producers for a good barrier draw (success number 1 we drew Barrier 2) then 2nd go to the front run hard and dont let 9 other contestants pass us in the straight (Success Number 2 we were only passed by 4 and finished a safe 5th

OUTRUN and OUTRIDE:

Mat (lindsypark) had the 3/1 Favorite SOMETHING WEIRD sitting midpack and definitely Outran and Outrode the field to earn the immunity reward of selecting Race No. 4

THE TRIBE HAS SPOKEN:

The other race of interest was at the back of the pack, Matty “I won’t be last home” with SQUIRT GUN RIDER” jumped 6th and held his position until the half way mark (5 lengths off the leader who was setting a hot pace). It was about then he hit the wall and was starting to lose ground, 8th at the top of the straight, it was clear he was in trouble. Those in front of him who were losing ground on others were still pulling away from him, others were just running on by, until there was just 1 other horse behind half way down the straight, Elvin (thebigshow’s) KYMARC DOUBT. It was a race of who could go backwards the slowest and it was going to be close because Matty’s Horse was definitely going the fastest “BACKWARDS” but he staggered over the line in 12th a half length to the good of Last Place and eliminated KYMARC DOUBT.

Elvin will now be the first member of our JURY, and help decided the final race conditions that will decide our winner!
