Muddy marathon needs a Heroine
Mexico– Cat-4 Hurricane Wilma won’t deter the Yucatan Mexico course from a full racecard. The sophomore fillies tackle the odd 13f distance over a storm-surged track……..
On the rail, Landhof Hollandia (7/2) makes her stakes debut in her 9th outing. By Dixie Union, the filly broke her mainde on her 5th try after finally testing 9.5f. She’s been impressive since — winning over 12f from off pace LTO signals her readiness for this level. No reason to suspect she won’t enjoy the extra furlong. Excellent chance with good choice in 17% jockey too. Races for oostende4.
Sable88 sends out the 12-furlong stakes winner Cahooters (7/2). The Seattle Slew granddaughter fares honestly in these marathons. She effectively took an 11f ALW in a romp LTO. We’ll see if she apprecaites the 13f or if she’s more efective in middle routes. Top jockey (23%) helps from behind the pace. Most likely, Cahooters will sieze a solo lead and that could be very interesting for a wire to wire or at least board finish.
Next up we have the Rainbow Quest lassie Whats The Rumpus (7/2). The eddieray trainee makes her 18th call to the post. The filly won over the summer in 10f and 12f ALWs, but hasn’t done much since. Possible for a honest cheque since she’s a proven stayer. Lousy jockey could compromise that from off pace or midpackishness.
The Touch Gold daughter Casino Gold (9/2) closed well over this distance in average time LTO. The former claimer has won 4 of 6 starts for new trainer, mindbolt. Superb job stretching this filly out. Good threat for the board if not the win. So-so jockey pilots from midpack or thereabouts.
Photo41st’s Lemon Yellow Sun (5/1) versatily stayed 14f LTO over the grass. The Lemon Drop Kid filly is equally good over the dirt and tries the marathon finally over that suface. She also likes off tracks. Longshot for the board. Look for her behind the pace.
Top jockey M Olsen (22%) pilots rrracing’s Silent Blade (4/1). Vindication daughter presides as the fields true marathon specialist. It took forever for her to finally break her maiden at 11f, but she hasn’t looked back since, picking up cheques left and right. Boasts a lot of 90 SP#s over these marathons. Great spot for the filly, but was is exactly her best distance? Factor for board.
Finally, Cynical has all the karma, breaking from post 7 at odds of 7/1. The Green desert filly finally found her forte two back, finishing second over 14f ALW company. Toss out the Grade 3 debacle LTO and she’s ready to test this group. True longshot, but not without a chance from off pace. Races for zewango3.
Snowchief’s Picks:
Win: Landhof Hollandia
Place: Lemon Yellow Sun
Show: Cahooters or Casino Gold or Silent Blade
Good luck to all.
