1) GUN FOR THE STARS(IRE) lgbost8 J Stivers 2/1
SEA THE STARS she/male offspring bids to start his career with three straight victories. GUN FOR THE STARS likes to lay off the leader and did so nicely winning his last race (alw nw2L) nicely recording an 83sp. Once again he gets the top jock and looks to be well spotted to make it three in row. He/Dam on 5 of 29 for 48k.
2) WIESE S INDY HILL(GER) manni138 R Truitt 6/1
Son of WIESENPFAD as already run 9 times this year! He has won 4 of those starts and banked $150k. This is his first start around 2 turns. He finished 3rd and 4th in his last two tries which were minor stake races. If he isn’t worn down from his campaign he could grab a piece. Trainer hits a whopping 24% of the time. Dam won 5 of 38 and banked $168k.
3) BIERI(JPN) michap J Francis 20/1
Son of MATSURIDA GOGH (JPN)is the longest shot in the field. He has won 2 of his 6 life time starts on the grass. He stretches out to a mile for the first time and figures to show his speed as far as it will carry him. He figures to make his presence felt in the early stages but I expect him to be backing up in the lane. Dam won 4 of 26 and banked $121k.
4) CASA LOMA STOMP(IRE) ocalafarms K Champ 7/1
DALAKHANI (IRE) offspring looked good winning his debut recording a 71 sp and his connections waste no time putting him in stakes company. No telling how good he is but he did beat a solid field of maidens in his debut. He will likely be another that will be up close early in what could turn out to be a lively pace early on. Scratch bred looks to have a nice future.
5) U R A SMART GUY(KY) purespeed W Moss 5/1
Son of Smart Strike has won or placed in all 5 of his starts this year. Looks like he might prefer the turf despite winning on both surfaces. He, like GFTS, has also won at the distance. He is another that looks to do his best running up near the lead. Bred in the purple, this guy looks to have a big chance here. Expect him to hit the board one way or another. Mom won 3 of 24 and banked $40k.
6) Z’S POMPEII(JPN) 8ballfarms R Wilkinsonboro 5/1
Son of KING KAMEHAMEHA(JPN) has won both of his starts coming from off the pace which could actually bode well for him here if he can get this distance. Having not run beyond 6 panels the jury is still out about his ability to get the distance. He could be just a late running sprinter. Trainer hits the winners circle 15.5% of the time. Dam won 5 of 38 and $140k.
7) ARLEQUIN(KY) pato5 J Kemp 4/1
Son of ROCK HARD TEN goes off as the second choice in this spot. Has won or placed in each of his last 4 tries. His most recent at 7 panels in stakes race resulted in a strong runner up performance finishing second and recording a 83sp. He appears to have the ability to rate which could be a strong hand in this affair. Strong contender. Dam won 2 of 25 and banked just $26k.
8) SPARK ARRESTOR(AR) squirrel4 H McLean 13/1
Son of FAN THE FLAME has just won 1 of 7 starts thus far. He exits the Grade 3 Aaron Burr and finished fourth beaten just 2 lengths. However he only recorded a 67sp. His best sp was a 71 over 7 panels so it is possible he might enjoy this elongated distance. Trainer hits 16.8% of the time. Dam was fairly accomplished winning 9 of 48 starts and banking an impressive $679k.
GUN FOR THE STARS looks to have bright future and is my pick. He only need repeat his last effort. ARLEQUIN need only repeat his last performance to hit the board in my opinion. U R A SMART GUY is regally bred having won at this distance, I expect him to hit the board. CASA LOMA STOMP(IRE) and Z’S POMPEII(JPN) could be any sort.
