More Glare Stakes

Hello all and welcome to lucky green Ireland. Today we have a great day of racing, but no doubt race 14 the 11th running of the More Glare Stakes. This originally started as a $250,000 Group2 race back in 2001, but in 2009 it was changed to a Group1 and $450,000 prize money.

In todays race there are 11 good fillies but I believe there are only 2 main chances. 12 LEEBAZ(NZ) and 4 ARC A COMIN'(GER)are the $3.5 installed equal favourites and both have met last start at this track at this distance. On that occasion 12 LEEBAZ(NZ)took the honours, but 4 ARC A COMIN'(GER) has got A Reed on her back and he is the only jockeys that has won this race more than once. In saying all that there is no reason there can’t be an upset and any of the other 9 fillies have a win.

HUSSON (ARG) filly who had her first start in an allowance race in Italy back in March. She has won and finished second in stakes races, but her only start in a GRP3 she stormed home to finish fourth. This a step up in class, but is she runs from the back the extra 200m could make or break her.

LOOKIN AT LUCKY filly who had her first start at Tasmania in a Maiden back in February for a sixth position. Spelled after her second start and that seemed to work as she won a New Zealand maiden at 13/1 odds. She is at big odds here today and hard to see her finish in the money.

MONSUN(GER) filly who had her first start at a maiden in Paris back in February. This one is our equal favourite and with and allowance and stakes win you can tell why. Her last start was at this track where she finished second in the G2-The Young Lady over 1400m. A Reed takes the ride today and if he can ride her just right she is a big shot.

ROMAN RULER filly who had her first start start at Florida back in March where she was dissapointing. Has taken her 3 starts to win but her next one came only 2 starts later. Has done all of her racing in maiden and allowance races and is also coming from the U.S. This is a big step up in class and hard to see him place here.

DAIWA MAJOR (JPN) filly who just afiled to win her first start back in February at Surrey in a maiden. Her last start was also in the G2-The Young Lady 1400m where she raced mid field but after the half way mark faded to finish 8 lenghts sixth. Is at big odds again today but could be a suprise run and could finish well.

SPECIAL WEEK filly who had her only start at a N California allowance back in July. She did finish second over 1600m with a speed of 72 but it was a small field of 4. She is one of those runners you have to take at your own risk as she is lighlty raced.

MAJESTIC WARRIOR filly who had a second placing in a California maiden back in February. She has finished third in a stakes race her last start, but with the speeds she’s giving you can understand why she is the longshot. I think she’ll give it her best but still probably finish last.

DUBAWI (IRE) filly who won her first start back in March at California. Had a win in a stakes start last time but that was with a field of 4 and this is a big step up in class. She is also one that you have to take at your own risk but is yet to miss a place and should go well.

CONATUS filly who had a win at her only start back in July at Virginia in a stakes race. At big odds here and is coming from the U.S. The wide barrier probably won’t help and 1400m is a question mark for her. On the other hand she could suprise all of us and win by 2 lenghts, but I think not.

ZABEEL(NZ) filly who had a win her first start at New Zealand in a maiden back in March. Has won a stakes and placed and won in a GRP2. Her last start was in the G2-The Young Lady 1400m at this track where she shook the ground when she stormed home to win by just over a lenght. The wide barrier shouldn’t be a worry as she likes to get back and stretch her legs in the straight. This one is definately the one to beat.
