The Grade II Jimcrack Stakes
A field of seven promising two-year olds will compete in Surrey England on Saturday in the Grade II Jimcrack Stakes. The race will be run over the distance of six furlongs over the Turf course for a purse of $250,000. GREEN CAMAZOTZ(ENG) – will be racing under the black and gray colors of the daniel Empire Racing Stables. The two-year old son of Green Desert will be tested for class for the first time after exiting a convincing gate to wire score over the turf course in Italy last time out. The English homebred will have his work cut out for him on Saturday making his stakes debut against a stakes experienced field of juveniles that have combined for five first or second place finishes in five Graded starts…overmatched FLEE THE RANSOM(KY) – two-year old filly out of Northern Afleet stole away the Savage Hillbilly Dirt Juvenile last time out against the boys over a sloppy dirt course in Mexico, however the saddlebags trained homebred did not fair well in her turf stakes debut finishing nine lengths back while posting a 67 speed figure. Despite some turf pedigree on the Dam’s side, this filly will have to run the race of her life to take home even a share…look elsewhere A FLEET KITTY(JPN) – advancing steadily with every start since his maiden score in March, this talented Afleet colt is coming off back to back second place finishes in the Salisbury Medallion -G3 and The July Stakes -G2 respectively, edged out narrowly by a less than one length combined. The ldyssecret trained prospect will benefit from a fast early pace in Saturday’s feature and should make his presence felt turning for home in the G2 affair…dangerous CADFAEL(IRE) – two-year old Invincible Spirit(IRE) colt racing under the green and red of the rafa stables has been nothing short of sensational in his juvenile career winning four of five starts including the Norfellow Stakes -G2 and Golden HandGrenade -G3 respectively, posting a 93 speed figure in the latter while earning over 200k for his effort. Out of a stakes producing mare, ZALDIBIA(IRE), the IRE bred colt has shown an ability to control the pace and should be able to keep himself in position to make it five in a row…one to beat KAZE STAR(IRE) – two-year old Sea the Stars(IRE) colt really caught the attention of the racing community last time out when the tazdevil trained chestnut stepped out of a maiden score and just missed by a nose in the Railaway -G3 with an eye-catching 87 speed figure. Benefiting from that experience, this IRE bred talent will give the favorite something to think about as a battle to the wire looms prominent in this turf feature…might be this good SHAKESPEARE’S TURF(FL) – baggio trained son of Shakespeare steps into top level stakes competition after winning his debut in a restricted race for Florida bred maidens. Turning in a gate to wire performance, the untested scratch bred is aggressively placed here on Saturday and would be hard pressed to contend with these…pass M B M B(FR) – unbeaten in three starts, the kirby trained son of Miesque’s Son, returns to the turf after scoring dirt victories in Allowance company in his last two starts. From the graded placed mare, BRITTNEY SKY, who has produced two turf stakes winners, one of them being SHOT OF PATRON(JPN), winner of almost half his starts and almost 500k in earnings, prompting his connections to test their indomitable FR bred in this G2 event. Given his two dynamic speed figures on the dirt, I am not fully convinced this colt will advance in this company on the turf course despite his maiden turf victory; however you do have to respect that race and his ancestry…chance for upset
