$250,000 G2 Why You Buggin Stakes

Welcome all to Berkshire for the 10th running of the G2 Why You Buggin Stakes on turf at 5f. This is the third year it has been elevated to $250,000 in prize money and we therefore have a healthy field of 11 starters. Before we begin, I really must admit that I have two runners in this race. Due Dilligence and Miss Timoshenko. The first one is in the race for no reason what so ever and with the latter, I hold massive hopes for. There are some very good chances in the race with all attempting to knock off the 2nd ranked filly in the division Miss Timoshenko. Lets take an in depth look and re-jig the odds accordingly….

PP#1 – Fast Movin Train (DANSILI (GB) x KINGMAMBO x STORM CAT) 7/1
Record – 2/1-0-0 for $19,080 Ranking – unranked
Breeding – Awesome breeding says she will love the turf but could need it further
Jockey – Rideout – 5% winning, 28% ITM this year
Form – Romped home LTO when taking on a full field. Was belted in first run when yielding turf offered some excuses. 70 SP with a ¼ length win doesn’t fill me with enormous confidence and looks as if she may have to post at least an 80 SP to run ITM. She comes into this off a seven-week break which is great.
Lado says – cannot see her troubling the top 5 runners here today. Well rested, great breeding but just looks as if she will be outgunned.
Form line odds: 15/1

PP#2 – Naevia (BIG BROWN x SEEKING THE GOLD x MR. PROSPECTOR) 5/1
Record – 1/1-0-0 for $27,120 Ranking – unranked
Breeding – Screaming dirt, wins on turf…… Game dam a freak turf sprinter with 20 wins including 7 ungraded stakes wins and 15 ungraded ITM.
Jockey – Donahue – 18.8% winning, 50% ITM this year
Form – Six-week break is great and won maiden by a length against eleven others. Probably a eager trying to leap frog her mums career a bit early as this is one hell of a step up and its hard to say if she can make it.
Lado says – Travelling from East Kentucky to England is an ask and with just a maiden 70 SP under her belt I prefer others. Jockey a bonus…
Form line odds: 12/1

PP#3 – World Theory (DANSILI (GB) x GALILEO (IRE) x SEEKING THE GOLD) 8/1
Record – 2/1-0-1 for $31,864 Ranking – unranked
Breeding – Yes yes yes – bred to do well – that’s for sure. This may be a little short. He-mare was a champ with a G2 win, eight graded ITM runs and eight ungraded stakes wins.
Jockey – Milhouse – 10.3% winning, 31% ITM this year
Form – A nine week break means she is certainly fresh. Won her maiden against the colts but again, this is a big jump. 67 SP needs to be improved to above 80 to nab this G2 win.
Lado says – Travelling from Queensland to England is also an ask. Maiden winner with just 67 will struggle in my book.
Form line odds: 22/1

PP#4 – Royal Injury (ROYAL ACADEMY x SMART STRIKE x END SWEEP) 21/1
Record – 3/2-0-1 for $66,720 Ranking – 11th
Breeding – Like it but certainly not a blue blood. Will also like it further.
Jockey – Day – 21.2% winning, 55% ITM this year – great bonus
Form – LTO nailed first ungraded stakes win by over a length. Hardly put a hoof wrong since winning maiden with ungraded 3rd place before last start. Seven week break is great. SP’s have been very low.
Lado says – Another one travelling, this filly from Arkansas to England. Stakes winner looking to continue dream run but looks to be a nightmare if she cannot step up.
Form line odds: 18/1

PP#5 – Batilia (ARCH x SEEKING THE GOLD x UNBRIDLED’S SONG) 6/1
Record – 2/2-0-0 for $18,240 Ranking – unranked
Breeding – Probably as expected – good on dirt, turf – we will find out! Game dam had three dirt route wins on dirt and probably where she belongs.
Jockey – Antoni – 12.8% winning, 38% ITM this year.
Form – Certainly has not put a foot wrong…. on dirt. Won maiden and nailed the field when winning ungraded stakes five weeks back. Hard to really tell what impact she will make but proved she is stakes class filly.
Lado says – Utah to England on a five week break is adequate. If she runs as well on turf as she does on dirt – look out!!!
Form line odds: 7/1

PP#6 – Acqua Di Gio (GIO PONTI x CRYPTOCLEARANCE x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY (IRE)) 17/1
Record – 2/2-0-0 for $48,900 Ranking – 64th
Breeding – Game dam a dirt stakes winner. Interesting breeding.
Jockey – Williams – 18.4% winning, 48% ITM this year.
Form – Perfect in two and trainer has made a great decision to put her up in G2 company. Progressed from first start maiden winner to easy allowance win LTO when brained the field over two lengths drawing away from them. Certainly looks a class filly and will increase SP considerably this week. Trainer is very solid and six week break will do her good.
Lado says – Australia to England not flash but six week spell, ready to improve and easy run LTO. Look for her to attempt to wire this field.
Form line odds: 5/1

PP#7 – Due Dilligence (MONSUN(GER) x GHOSTZAPPER x SECRETARIAT) 9/1
Record – 3/1-2-0 for $49,220 Ranking – 190th
Breeding – Absolute blue blood but will turf suit her? He-mare a dirt stakes winner.
Jockey – Wesselman – 7.5% winning, 31% ITM this year – not great.
Form – Barnstorming run LTO when attempting to wire field in ungraded dirt stakes making it two 2nd placings from two ungraded stakes races after winning maiden. From Utah to England is certainly not ideal and would have liked at least a six week break.
Lado says – Much the same as Batilia, if she can reproduce form on turf that she showed on dirt, she could go close. Truth be told, if she had won LTO she would not be here.
Form line odds: 8/1

PP#8 – Elite Rock (ROCK OF GIBRALTAR (IRE) x STORM CAT x DEPUTY MINISTER) 7/2
Record – 1/1-0-0 for $29,220 Ranking – unranked
Breeding – Very well bred but game dam fairly unsuccessful. Could also be good on dirt.
Jockey – Adler – 5.1% winning, 33% ITM this year – not great.
Form – Maiden winning looking to jump up to G2 winner in a single bound. Great maiden run saw her post a 73 SP, winning by over two lengths. She looks very handy but may get into a fight for the lead early.
Lado says – Great first up win and apart from the massive step up in class, she looks the goods. Well bred, will post 80+ SP and will go close.
Form line odds: 5/1

PP#9 – Sloss Furnaces (RIP VAN WINKLE x THEATRICAL(IRE) x FUSAICHI PEGASUS) 18/1
Record – 1/1-0-0 for $21,840 Ranking – unranked
Breeding – Moderate. Probably will perform up to expectations.
Jockey – Thomas 11.9% winning, 33% ITM this year.
Form – Yet another maiden winner looking to jump up to G2 winner in a single bound. Not the most exciting maiden win around but one win from one start is good in anybodies book. 67 SP and winning margin just under a length not too appealing and must improve to get anywhere near them. Three week break not enough and could put her in line for an injury at this level.
Lado says – Not much of a shot. Odds reflect chances and off three week break travelling from Florida to England she will not be in the top half.
Form line odds: 30/1

PP#10 – The Fijian (ZABEEL(NZ) x ELUSIVE QUALITY x PIVOTAL(GB)) 5/1
Record – 2/2-0-0 for $99,660 Ranking – 36th
Breeding – May take to turf. Game dam two time stakes winner on turf.
Jockey – DeGrella 14.2% winning, 34% ITM this year.
Form – G3 winner on dirt looking to impart her brilliance on turf. Would be one for the books if she can pull it off and with a SP of 79 LTO to win, she may just do it. Proven graded performer and coming off good five week spell.
Lado says – Just like Batilia and my filly Due Dilligence, if any of them can reproduce their efforts on dirt, they could go close to winning. This filly certainly has the ability and it is just a matter of surface preference.
Form line odds: 4/1

PP#11 – Miss Timoshenko (NORTH LIGHT (IRE) x DANEHILL x SECRETARIAT) 6/1
Record – 3/3-0-0 for $97,500 Ranking – 2nd
Breeding – Was always intended to run the turf but I bred her for 10 – 12f.
Jockey – Harzheim 27.1% winning, 59% ITM this year – big time chance.
Form – Two time ungraded stakes winner and 2nd ranked filly in division. I have doubts about her form with just the 71 SP LTO but did enough to win. Was never under pressure and won by a length. Late swooping style may not suit the distance but there are a number of potential pace setters in this that may work for her. She was meant to have rested after her second win but couldn’t resist a shot at stakes level again LTO. Five week break, and set for this race from day one, must reproduce for a forth time – hopefully avoiding a bounce.
Lado says – Certainly a top chance. Proven winner, no travel problems, five week break and was on 0.95% riding instructions LTO. Top 3.
Form line odds: 3/1

Lado’s tips:

Top chances in no specific order:

Miss Timoshenko, The Fijian, Elite Rock & Acqua Di Gio.

Batilia and Due Dilligence could figure in finish if they take to the turf.

So there we have it folks. Some may say Lado is bias. Lado tends to agree but when the gates open, I think one of my top four picks will win…..
