Full Moon Handicap – Grade II

Welcome all to the ‘Full Moon Handicap’, a Grade II 9 furlong turf stakes race for three year old fillies in California. This Saturdays field has brought together eight fillies who will be competing on the firm turf track this morning.

BEACH TIME is favoured to win this race with 2/1 odds, and matching that with having the highest top speed figure in the field makes BEACH TIME a definate favourite to take this race. BEACH TIME has been able to bring home the victory in five of her elever lifetime starts, including three of her last four races. As long as BEACH TIME shows up ready to race, it will be hard for the other horses to keep up.

LEINSTER is an underdog in the field running at 18/1 odds and a high speed of 95, 10 less than the favourite in the field. LEINSTER has two victories under her belt, having landed her maiden victory just three races ago, after eight career starts. LEINSTER has jumped straight from the allowance class straight up to the Graded Stakes, however she may need some development in stakes befor she is ready to compete with a Graded field.

GROWLING FROG has been set to 9/1 odds and is coming off of another career high speed of 94, and has had her speed figure improve with each start. GROWLING FROG won in her first three starts and came third in her last race. With some more improvement she may be able to be competitive at the graded level, however she may be getting rushed up in class a little too much.

Although BEACH TIME’s highest speed is above ROTARIAN’s, ROTARIAN will put up a battle and stands a good chance of ending with the lead.

A LITTLE SHOCKED has won five of her eight career starts, and has an outside chance in this race, just based on the fact that she always seems to pull just enough out of the tank to lock up the wins. If she can have another bump up in speed that could put her right in contention this week.
