Jump The Gold rockets down the stretch to capture the Gone At Last Bonanza
Jump The Gold owned the second half, cruising down the stretch to capture the Gone At Last Bonanza by two and a quarter lengths. This is her second win in a row, and her third in her five career starts. It is also her first stakes victory. This win puts her at rank 128 among Juvenile Filly Turf Sprinters, and right at rank 100 for Turf Classic distance. This filly will have even more success as the race lengths start to increase over the next year.
Hamilton Pool blasted out of the gate in this one, taking an unchallenged lead. By the halfway mark, she had opened the lead to four lengths, and it looked like she was going to just run away from the rest of the field, which was tightly packed behind her. The closers had other ideas, though. Jump The Gold, and Black Fern(IRE) both made strong moves at the half, beginning to wear away at the lead. At the top of the stretch, Hamilton Pool was still holding on by two lengths, and it appeared that she might be able to hold on against the furious rush. About that time though, Jump The Gold kicked it into overdrive, and simply ran away from everyone, a clear victor at the wire, with no one close enough to challenge. Black Fern(IRE) picked off the tiring leader to grab second place. Hamilton Pool held onto third, three and a half lengths out at the wire.
